Default 92 GMC truck 370 swap

Getting my 92 pickup ready for a 370 ci swap. Got the motor out of an 02 Denali with 160,000 miles on it and heard it run before i purchased it. It was supposed to be a budget build but when i got the heads off 2 of the cylinder walls were pitted ( steam cut ) from coolant leaking into the cylinders. So i decided to go ahead and build a 370. Been gathering parts over the past 2 months, got married and having to get this thing bored out has slowed me down a little bit. I hope to have the block at the machine shop by early August. Here is a rundown of the setup. A 6.0 block bored out .030. I will be using Scat I-beam rods with Wiseco flat top pistons with 3.22 cc valve reliefs. JP performance double roller timing set. Havent decided on which oil pump yet, any suggestions high pressure, high volume, stock replacement? ls7 lifters. New pushrods once i measure for them. Stock 317 heads, possibly milled .02. Brian Tooley Platinum valve springs. Stock valves and rockers with trunnion upgrade. ARP head bolts. Edelbrock RPM performer intake. Quickfuel 750 cfm vacumm secondary. I will be getting martin@Tick to spec me a cam. I will also run a 100 shot of nitrous later on. I also have a th350 tranny with a JW bellhousing i will be getting rebuilt to use. Converter will be dependent on the cam i get. Truck will be 90% street 10% strip so thats why i went with the dual plane and vacumm secondary carb. If i get more serious about racing it i will probably switch to a single plane and a bigger carb and more nitrous. Here is a pic of my truck the motor is going in.
The motor before really tearing it apart.

Block getting dissassembled

Block down to bare bones

Will try to load some more pictures tomorrow. Posted on this forum since I'm going carbed figured yall would like to see it.

Been getting parts in

I love these pistons it's a shame they have to hide out inside the motor!

Did a little redneck machining today. I got a long sanding block and some 400 and 600 grit and sanded the gasket surfaces. Checked with a machinist straight edge and feeler gauges and was less than .003 on flatness. Bottom of the heads will be milled so it doesn't really matter on the bottom surface. Some before and after pics.

Also checked my crank today and a few journals had some light scratches on them so I put it on my lathe and got some 2500 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded them using a straightedge cut for each journal so it would not taper the journals. All journals are within spec.

Also had a chance to paint the valve covers and mock up the motor for some eye candy.

Looks good so far! Wonder what it will weigh? My ECSB is 4200 when it had a iron tbi 5.7.

I was gonna tell you if you planning on running the rubber mounts for the MSD box on the intake like that you will need a 3/4"-1" carb spacer..

It's a 750 yeh it's new but I bought it off a guy that never took it out the box. Yeh I noticed that on the MSD box when I mounted it! I may end up mounting it on the firewall so I can drive with the laptop hooked up.

Any specific reason you went with the dual plain instead of the single plain? More torque? Personal preference?

Engine looks damn good all mocked up like that!

Well the truck isn't a daily driver so I will beat on it pretty hard but will mostly operate in the 2500-5000 rpm range and from my research the dual plane has a significant advantage in that rpm range over the single plane. Though it will probably be hard for me to keep it away from the track once I get it driving. If I start racing it more I will definitely move to the single plane and more nitrous.

What motor mounts are you using? And I'm assuming your using schoenfield headers? I'm gonna try to save up the money to get the ceramic coated ones

This joker was a bitch to get off today.

I will be using the stock oil pan and got it cleaned up today. How much clearance with the oil pan do you guys have that have swapped into these year model trucks? Does it hang pretty low?
