Default Improve appearance of truck intake manifold?

I've got my 75 Mercedes running with its 99 LR4 4.8. I am running the stock truck manifold. The hood just closes without the vortec cover but won't close with the cover on. I was thinking go LS1 intake, mostly because of looks but I don't want to spend the money right now nor do I want to lower the throttle body because it would put the opening lower into the path of hot air flowing through the radiator. I'm wondering if anyone has ground the bosses off of their truck manifold and painted it or otherwise improved its appearance without increasing its height? Responses with pictures are particularly welcome.

The link Tim94 is a good place to start. Keep the truck intake they are good performer much better than LS1. I did a smooth intake I have quite a few hours in mine. Its about 90% done.

I'm smoothing mine too soon, what did you use to smooth it? What are you using to finish it

I guess your asking me . The first thing you have to do is cut off all the bosses and tabs and any webbing off. I cut the horns off too that is an option you may not want to do, its not a real big deal just means more filing later on. Take a look at Wildkard intake in the link posted earlier that is similar to what mine will look like when finished Then I used a DA sander to smooth the top.
