Default Someone ID this part

This has probably already been explained on here...but I don't know what to call this part to search...???

See them all the time on the rear of the driver side fuel rail on truck engines.

It bolts to the rear of the cyl head.

What is it, and exactly what is it's purpose???

I think it's just a bracket that keeps the driver's side fuel rail from getting smashed into the firewall in a collision.

This is what I've always thought too. But it does bring up the question of why there isn't one on the other side.

A worthless piece of metal that gets in the way.
I've used it to pull the motor out. Only other thing it could be.

Who's more important than the driver?

Yup, slap one on the front opposite side, drill holes through them and add your chain.

These have always been in the back of my mind also...but...Ls1nova's question sort of cancels out the first...

So no one really knows for sure...100%???

(GM wouldn't have put them on there if they didn't serve a legitimate purpose.)

I also figured it was for the fuel rail, but since its not on the pass side it may be to protect the lines into the fuel rail.

It IS for the fuel rail, look at the part number on the bracket and search it.
