1969 Buick skylark- 6.0/4l80E
Hi all, I know this may be a little late, but I've finally gotten the car of my dreams running, (for the second time). It's a 1969 Buick skylark, with 40k original miles. Original buick 350/th350 car. A/c, and numerous options. I know many Buick purist would ave been sick as to what I did to it, but its my car, and I believe I improved it. When I first did it, I put in a carbd 4.8/th400, stock besides the intake and I even ran exhaust manifolds. In the process I removed all the factory a/c stuff, fuel system, and factory supension and all. One of my coworkers wanted the 4.8, so I sold it to him for $700, and bought a running and driving 2005 chevy crew cab truck for $500, because it had electrical issues. It had everything I needed, 6.0/4l80 with 173xxx on it. I was a little apprehensive about doing a factory efi swap, but it was easier than I thought. A huge thank you to lt1swap.com for the help doing the harness. After purchasing HPTUNERS, and figuring out what needed to be done it was all about wiring everything up, it fired at the first turn of the key. I was ecstatic!
This is what I used for my swap:
Oil pan: Holley swap pan
Headers: 98-02 fbody pacesetters
Motor mounts: factory Buick tall/narrow, with transdapt adapters 1/2" spacers
Tunnel mods: small hydraulic jack and a little bit of gentle pressure on the floor
Fuel system: Tanks inc tank with Walbro 255lph pump, corvette filter regulator and REDHORSE performance fittings.
Shifter: reused factory shifter but bought a Shiftworks cable and detent kit
Steering: I used the jeep grand Cherokee box(the one with the $350 core charge)
Brakes: I used the hydroboost unit off the 2500hd as well, along with all the hoses. And used a wilwood master cylinder.
If you guys have any questions or need help, I'll be more than happy to give you my perspective on what I did. I'll put up the pics I have already. I love ls1tech for the wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. It's almost addicting as working on the car itself!
