Default 92 foxbody rear axel

I know 8.8 rear axel is the most common choice but was wondering if i could use a 8.8 from the 1994 to 2004 rear end and will it bolt right in or will i need to fabricate to make it fit. Or am i better off with a 8.8 from the 79-93 foxbody axel which im sure will bolt right in being that i currently have the 92 foxbody 4 cly but i know they dont come with the 8.8 rear end. any suggestions for 8.8 rear end and spine?

The 79-93 GT rear end will be better, if I'm not mistaken the 94-04 are a little bit wider, which is fine but just throws off wheel placement.
I'd say get a rear end out of a fox GT and use 31 spline axles, that will be your best bet and will help to have a solid rear end.
When you do pick one up give it a refresh clean up all the crap that will be inside of it, and weld the tubes.

Like posted above I believe the axle is a little wider but will bolt right up. However, I had a buddy buy a 94+ rearend and swapped the axles out and it wan't too wide. The hosuing itself is the same width, just the axles are a tad wider I think??

You could be right on that?
I don't know really I thought the housing itself was wider.

The 94-98 axles are wider than the fox axles, but the 8.8 Mustang housings are basically the same from 86-98.

The 99-04 axles are wider than the 94-98 axles. In 99 the 8.8 housings changed and the lower control arm bolts went from standard to metric so the bolt diameters are different.

All stock Mustang axles are 28 spline and you can buy whatever available spline you are willing to spend money on. The 31 spline axles are the most common aftermarket axles and differentials. The 28 spline axles are not as weak as many internet experts would lead you to believe.

You guys should search around some Mustang sites, this type of stuff is very common information that is not on Chevy websites.
