Default Is an LC9 swap too big a bite for the 1st time?

Looking to put a 5.3 Vortec into a Toyota truck. I have been trying to wait for a low mileage L33.

We have never done a swap before. Wondering of an LC9 will be to complicated of a project to tackle the first time out of the gate? Can it be done without VVT and DOD as a fall back?

A swap is a swap. VVT and DOD can be disabled if you wish.

My first ever swap was an LS1 into a Lexus IS300. You can do anything if you have the time, money, and some skills.

The engine is typically the least expensive part of any swap,it is all the details that drive the cost thru the roof,4.8,5.3,6.0 it won't won't make any real difference at the end of the day,get ready to spend some K$$$...

I have an LC9 from an '11 Avalanche so I figured I'd chime in. The LC9 5.3 is alittle more tedious than the normal LSx swap (last swap i did was an L33). The LC9 obv has the DOD/AFM/VVT but its also 58X and is GEN4. IF your keeping the DOD/AFM/VVT you need to run a properly tuned E38 ECM which most people Don't want to do. Best bet if you run an LC9 is to convert it into an L33 by deleteing the DOD/AFM/VVT and replacing all parts with GENIII parts whether stock or aftermarket. Its worth it if your intial engine buy in price was very low and you can find used Gen 3 parts fairly cheap since its an aluminum engine. I decided against the LC9 so I'm trying to sell it. Good luck.
