Thanks guys!

Do Work - it seems like me, you and DEEDUDE are at basically the same points in our builds. Every time I see one of ya'lls threads with an update it motivates me to keep going!

Keep going.... I've been steady working on mine doing the interior sheet metal; floor boards, braces, trans and drive shaft tunnel, etc.. Very time consuming without the proper tools. Hopefully I'll have an update soon.

The cars looking good. Keep up the hard work..

Time for an update: Although I haven't been able to work much on the car due to some unusually cold weather, I have been able to knock out several little things on the car. I have finish up the brakes, installed gauges, got the sending units for water temp and oil pressure hooked up, installed a sun pro mini tach where the clock was, got my conversion u-joints in and installed my crown Vic driveshaft and refurbished the original steering wheel.

Here are some pics

Looking good man. Really dig the gauges. Where did you end up hooking up your water temp?

You are doing an absolute awesome job and dont give one single thought towards the HAMBinistas as I too got booted after a heated discussion as to why my last car wasnt considered a "traditional custom". My car was chopped, sectioned, channeled, suicide doors, hand fabbed steel dash, and shaved. Keep on building and have fun doing it. I guess I should have just bought a shoebox Ford ,heated the coils and added lakepipes and I could have been "in" with the HAMBurglars. LOL

So I'm assuming hamb is full of hipsters who listen to rockabilly and are all "old school". I should head over there and cause some rucuss.

That beetle is tight.

The HAMB... funny if you had a 32 Ford frame under it you could post forever.

Yeah, all thing said are true about that place. But all is good, to each their own I guess...

Jucin - If you use anything other than the stock transmission you will have to replace the stock rear end. It is a "closed drive" set up and you will have to put in an "open drive" set up. There are several that will fit depending on your preference. I used one out of a third gen camaro that just barely fit, but you could use one from a 4x4 s10, the tri-fives fit and I think some of the early nova/chevelle ones work too.

Good luck with your car!

Ya I think 3rd gen is my route. Did you have to cut your tunnel for the 4l60?

If you do get the camaro rear, measure very carefully for your wheels. I got 18x8 with zero offset and you can look back and see how tight it is the the outer fenders. If you get wheels with less offset, you won't have to cut the wheel wells like I had to.

I did not have to touch the tunnel. The motor mounts and trans x-member I used (both from Walton fabrication) located everything just right. I highly recommend their products!

Excellent build. What brand of wheels are the 18s? They look real cool.

The wheels are Boss 338 18"x8". I really like them, just wish I could go wider in the back...

what radiator are you using and who did you purchase it from
have not decided on mine yet
prices (and i am sure quality) are running all over the place
trying to gather information on pros and cons of an intergal trans cooler
as well as big tube versus small tube radiator
will also be cooling p/s fluid and oil
(52 fleetline w L76 / 6L80E )
purchased my wheels from circle racing
18X9 front and 18x11 rear
chassis narrowed in rear with tubs
style is similiar to Rod and Custom road tour 52 Chevy
there is a book documenting build with a lot of information
wiorth the money.

I got it of flea-bay, but it's one of the made in USA versions. It's a 3 row aluminum with built in trans cooler. The quality seems good and it doesn't leak so we'll see if it does the job when I finally get the car on the road... The only bad thing is that it is very thick and if you keep it in the stock location, you have to trim the stock radiator support and it makes things very tight!
