Great to hear. Selling mine is one of the bigger regrets I have. I got an amazing price for it but man I miss that truck. When my RX8 sells I have an 87 fleet side with a 5.3 and 80E waiting to get the twins finished and interior done. I had to literally hunt that truck down and they are getting pricey for a good one.

Played switch-a-roo last night. Loaded up the C-10 took it to my moms, trailered my S-10 home. Outta sight Outta mind
Need to prep- S-10 for powertour, got a short list so far. Make Delrin upper control arm bushings, Alt decided to quit charging, alignment after said bushings, new audio battery. I'm sure i'll find more once its home longer than an hour lol.

Been considering all options over last 2 weeks.
Probably be a little while before I turn a wrench on this thing anyway. But I have been seriously considering a completely stock 4.8, swap pan and intake and go.
Pull my current setup and go through it again fix whatever the issues are with it, and put in a LJMS cam and tooley springs in it and wait until the 4.8 has enough abuse and swap that back in again.
Seems like the 4.8 will be a waste of money. But I but it will be issue free until its abused with boost.

Well, I guess a month and a half is long enough break.
I looked at the truck yesterday and its being stored at my mom's, and its turning into a mouse hotel and seat starting to mold. Pretty depressed about it.
The next day a buddy called and bought a 4.8 he really shouldn't have bought. So he offered it to me. Made the deal and brought it home last night. Its a 101k motor, so far looks clean.
He's the plan:
Pull my C10 home, jerk motor. Take my heads off (799s) with pac1218 springs, put those on this 4.8 with new LS9 head gaskets and Chinese head studs. Swap my oil pan. RUN IT! I'm not touching anything on bottom end. Not even gonna pull the balancer to paint it.
Then take my short block to machine shop and tell them to fix it.

I got both heads off last night, cleaned all gasket surfaces, and cleaned pistons. Im going to keep my block mounted knock sensor I have on the 5.3, so im making my own aluminum valley cover. While I had the covers off I rolled the motor and looked at cam as best as I could. Looks good from what I could see. Valve train/pushrods/timing chain look incredibly clean. Hopefully it will be problem free

My Aluminum motor is originally equipped with 2 block mounted knock sensors, but they are 2 wire and wouldn't work with my 0411. So I had to revert back to an old single wire style sensor.

Didn't get as far as planned yesterday. But main goal accomplished.
Wasn't able to get a trailer until 10:30am or so, didn't get home and working on truck until 1. It was reasonably hot yesterday and I wasn't working in rabbit speed either... So 10PM was final extraction.
Tonight I want to pull heads/oil pan and get those cleaned up and be ready to install on Tuesday when my head gaskets come in. Be nice to get the motor set in truck as well Tuesday night. That would give me 3-4 solid evenings of getting it slowly back together and like to be cruising it by Sunday.

The night I got started the earliest I feel like I got the least done...figures.
So I got a brand new pickup tube for peace of mind.(ordered a new one from Jegs) to replace my buddies that I have used. Got pan and block flanged cleaned up nice and new felpro gasket started installing and found there is a missing hole on iron blocks for pan flange. I was like WTF is this, absolutely no reason at all....I was going to drill and tap it. But I looked at the truck pan and there isn't even a hole in the pan either... So I ran with it.
Next issue was the dipstick. Of course the iron block didn't have a boss that I used to mount my "custom" stick. So had to fab up another mount that attached to LS adapter plate bolt. I left the other mount too, incase the Aluminum motor ever makes its way back in the truck I don't have to mess with it again.
Got flexplate swapped to my modified one for the TH400, had to modify my new valley cover a bit more to get holes to line up once the heads were on. Its all buttoned up and ready to go in tonight and start re-assembling.
My intentions were to set motor in and at least get trans bolted up, but I didn't have any help so I messed with some other dumb stuff. Still need to re-wire my cam sensor to 4.8 specs.
