G35 Coupe LS6 Swap
#21
Update - still working on getting the right parts for the swap.
I was finally able to find a gto shifter assembly, which is needed for the kit I'm using.
Picked up a massive 53mm Koyo radiator, direct bolt on for the Gs
Added 305/30/19s in the back to deal with the traction issues I had when I have the SC on, hopefully it will make a big difference once the swap is completed
Next on the list is a set of truck coils...still looking!

Hey guys, haven't updated this progress thread in a long time.
I have been doing some tracking with the car, and now I think all of the other aspects of the car are ready for the swap. Suspension and brakes have been completely overhauled.
I decided that in order to finish the swap, I need to just stop saving for heads/cam and other unnecessary items, and just install the LS6 as is. I almost bought a C6 this week as a second car, and I really want to make sure I finish this swap as I think I will always be bothered if I don't. So, getting rid of the Fast 102 and just keeping the LS6 intake mani as well.
Few pics from this weekend's track day at Homestead Miami Raceway:
Only action pic... I actually ate that M3 right after this turn. Most exciting pass of the day!
Sparcos installed for better support during turns.
Just got pics of the new custom gauges sent to me, finally completed!
Already bought 240SX Gas Pedal for Cable Drive setup, truck coils,
Also, I think as suggested earlier, I wont go with Long Tube headers (the ones for my car are like 800), and just go with oem exhaust manifolds. I already have LS6 ones, but could go with TB SS ones or another truck ones you guys recommend. Is there a different in clearance between the LS6 and truck ones? Diameter? Would the LS6 ones work?

I pulled the block apart, and the bottom is at TEC (Total Engine Concepts) in Riviera Beach, best LS machinist in Fla, to disassemble, hone the cylinder walls and inspect everything.
Once I get the green light, the 243 heads go to AI for porting and a matching 228 cam.
Putting it back together w ls7 lifters and trays, ported ls6 pump, ls2 timing chain, gm bolts and gaskets, hardened push rods, BTR dual springs and titanium retainers
Its been tough not giving up and just getting a targa c6, but im sticking w it and I hope its worth it! So excited for the end product!

Sweet car. I have a buddy that had a g35 coupe and he loved it, just wanted more power. I have been trying to convince him to buy one and let me swap an LS in it. I'll show him this build!

SierraVmax - Thanks
@ Truckdoug - I know brother, I would have loved to finished the swap, but it was just not worth it. After test driving a Vette, I realized that no matter how muh money I had dumped into the G's handling, with all poly bushing, solid driveshaft bushing, coilovers, sways, camber arms, strut bars, and other braces, it didn't come close to the Vette's handling capabilities.
At the end of the day, regardless of how much money I dumped into the G, it would still not get to the level of the GS standards.
It already had 130k miles and it was giving me issues no matter how much I changed. The weight was also an issue, I was able to get the G only to 3480 lbs with quarter tank. Racing Seats, No spare, tools, no windshield tank, lightweight wheels, lightweight coilovers, lightweight exhaust, cf hood, lightweight rotors, and every other weight reduction possible other than gutting it and removing AC :/
As my DD, having oem traction control is important in South Florida during the VERY wet summer months. I was dropping 18k into a 6k car. To get it insured for enough to cover the car it would be economically unfeasible based in my research with insurance companies, so if I crashed that would SUCK! The vette is only 15 extra bucks a month.
Last but not least, the VETTE IS F BADASS lol I just can't wait to see where the Vette will get once I start modding it heheheh
