Default Noise after cam swap

Swapped a xr259hr cam in my 68 c10 with a 5.3.

And im having a whistling noise when you rev the motor or are driving down the road it gets louder with rpms.

It still does it in neutral.

It still does it with the belt removed also.

Its been a while since ive had a hotrod or a cam in something so could it be just the hardened valve train noise? I have the sewing machine noise that i was expecting but this is more of a whistle.

Thanks for any help.

seems to be a common problem with comp cams.

sure its not just a since-u-was problem .

since you was in there now you happen to have a vac leak on the intake gaskets ?

just another idea to check . ya never know .

you don't need to do them .

search on how to check leaking intake gasket with propane bottle.

if found bad then change them .

Well it is possible as everyone in the other thread says it does it more over 2k rpms where mine does it at idle and at every rpm.

Tryin to be optimistic... Lol

If it runs good, turn the radio up.

My bet is that it is a vacuum leak...

Is it a whistle or a whine? Whistle is air noise. Whine is mechanical.

all of us that have this whining issue need to send these threads to comp cams and see what they say, bc it is definitely not a isolated incident.

Im thinking of pulling the heads and changing the lifters to see if that helps, because my cam was used, and the guy I got it from swears he never had any whining noise from it. So im thinking maybe a lifter got spun around and isn't sitting right.

Might can talk the wife into some CNC'd heads too! just tell her it might help..
