Default 73 Camaro L92 Swap

Hey guys and gals,

Finally got my hands on a 6.2L L92 for my Camaro. The original plan was to drop an LS1/T56 in there but a friend of mine presented me with this engine at a price that I couldn't pass up.

Thus far, I have the engine and ordered adjustable engine mount adaptors from Dirty Dingo Performance. I plan to use my TH350 Transmission until I can save up for a T56. I read that I need a flex plate adaptor to make that work.

Plan is to have a very streetable 400+rwhp weekend cruiser. This isn't going to be a racecar build or anything crazy.

This is the parts list I've compiled so far:

OEM L92 motor mounts
VVT Delete Kit
1 7/8" Long Tube Headers
Aluminum Radiator W Dual Fans
LS1 (98-02 F body) Oil Pan Kit
Aftermarket Cam
Torque Converter w 3000-3500 Stall
Transmission Oil Cooler
EFI Prepped Fuel tank
255lph fuel pump
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel lines
Cold Air Intake

Let me know if you guys have helpful info. Still debating dbw or dbc. I'll update as I get more parts in. Plan is to have this bish running in a month. We'll see how that goes.

Now on to a few pics

Love the build. Reminds me of when I did mine! PM me any questions you have about the conversion and I will help out with what I can.

Got the goodies flowing in...

Derrty Dingo Adjustable Engine Mount Adaptors
New OEM Engine Mounts
VVT Delete Kit
LS2 Timing Chain
TSP LS3 Cam 231/236 111 LSA
Dynatech 1 7/8" LTs
New FI Tank w 255lph pump

Griffin Radiator w dual fans and shroud being built

Just need to figure out the electrical harness situation. Currently looking at Current Performance Wiring.

Also need to get all of the necessary pieces to get the TH350 to accept the L92.

Looking at another month at the very least. Initially deadline was too optimistic.

Nice ride!

You are going to need to order a Dakota Digital VSS adapter so you can use the factory speedo with the TH350 unless you have already converted your gauges.

I recommend going DBC so you can do your kick down cable easily and it also eliminates another variable that can cause you heartache. Since it looks like you need harness and computer just order one with a stand alone DBC flash.

You can do the PCM programming yourself if you go ahead and just spend a little extra cash to get the HP Tuners software(multiple tunes available in HP Tuners vault). It will enable you to make adjustments as you make mods to your car or if you run into issues and wanna change something up with your build.

Thanks for the heads up about the vss adaptor.

This is what I'm still figuring out. Was actually thinking of going dbw but I have yet to make my mind up.

I'm actually just going to get it dyno tuned at a buddy's shop. Engine is going to stay as is for a while as I'll be focusing on suspension and a T56 after she's up and running. She'll be pretty mean with intake, cam, LT's, and 3" exhaust.

Just ordered the adaptor to run my th350 along with a 3200rpm stall torque converter. Also ordered some boring stuff like valve cover gaskets, head gaskets and head bolts. Ride is going under the knife in two weeks after I get these parts in.

Anyone know where I can get a cold air intake for this bad girl?

Thanks man. For now, me too. Soon, hopefully, I won't have to imagine how fun it'll be because she'll be ready!

Sitting pretty! Waiting on the harness ordered from Sean at CBM, fuel rails and MSD wires.

Closer engine bay shot.

The huge intake mani might have barely cleared a stock hood. Shouldn't be a problem since I have a cowl hood.

Closer pic to how the engine sits with the dingo adaptors. I originally thought that I had to use the stock L92 mounts but it actually uses the stock Camaro mounts.

Pretty excited that she's coming along nicely. Gotta figure out a snag with my radiator and should be good to go after the harness is in and the tranny and fuel lines are run.

So we got the car to turn on last night. She's almost done and driveable. As soon as she's all set up, I'm going to send her to the next shop to get a posi unit out back with some 3.73's.

Once that is done, off to get tuned

Will get some pics up later.
