Default LSx into a Boxster S

As the title suggest, I am currently trying to figure out how I can do this. I've been in contact with the folks at renegade hybrid and they gave me advice on a budget build. What I was told was to shop around for a 5.3L Aluminum Vortec engine since that will be able to fit where LS engine could (but for alot less money).

What I'm trying to understand is how that could work? Would a truck engine propel a car quickly/does a vortec easily covers where an LS could be used?

Also, I found a few LS1 engines. One that is missing bearings and ring then has to be assembled (does assembly an engine cost a lot?) the other one I'm just waiting to hear from 'em. Sadly I cannot go make trips to a junk/salvage yard since I am currently in Afghanistan, but I should be back next month.

My hopes are to spend <= 2k on a motor since I'll be on a serious budget.

Thanks for any information, y'all take it easy!

Put this in the hybrid conversion section you will get more responses. The 5.3 is just a smaller cube ls1.
