Default Ps hoses

I have a 97 Grand Cherokee box and the Silverado 5.3 PS unit and looking for hoses. Has anyone tried using the stock Silverado high pressure hose on the Jeep box? I was looking at the Gates 353180 Steering Pressure Hose which has 18mm and 16mm fittings.

Thanks
Bob

I used a G body hose on mine with jeep box and corvette pump. It bolted right up and fit with only minor tweaking to it. Not sure how different the truck placement is.

Default Custom Hose

This is awesome!I am in the exact same boat. I am converting my ’73 Nova over to power steering with a Grand Cherokee steering gear and a truck bracket and pump. Actually I just solved my high pressure hose issue yesterday.

I used the fitting off the GM steering pump, and fitting off the GC gear. Then created a mock-up of the exact configuration I needed using cheap fuel hose. I then went to a locally owned Napa Auto Parts that had the ability to make hydraulic hoses. They recommended an Eaton compression fitting system that they frequently use to repair PS hoses that they do not carry. The compression fittings accept the hardline ends of the original fittings and simply tightened down to create a leak proof seal. They charged $40 for parts and labor, pretty fair IMO.

I wish I had pics loaded that I could share but I just did this all last night so I do not have them loaded yet. Go ahead and PM me your # and I can text a couple to you if you want.

And a word of warning! The low pressure return hose fitting on the cherokee pump is a speacial fitting! Take a close look, it is not like the high pressure side. This is done to prevent installing the hoses backwards! Nice feature I think.

Anyway, I ended up cutting the low pressure fitting off before it makes it's crazy "swiggle" bends and just used a tubing flare tool to put a SMALL flare on the tube to act as a hose bead. Budget friendly.

The G body (monte carlo) hose might work for a nova as well. Might keep that in mind if yours ever goes out. They are like $15 at any local auto parts store and bolt right up.

I just had mine made for my 72 skylark at my local hydraulic hose repair shop. They just installed my old Buick gearbox end on a new hose with the 05 truck pump end on it. Worked perfectly.

1964ss do you have a photo of your 85 monte carlo hose installation? If so, if you can post them on here it would be great.

Thanks

Yup, I sure will once I get them loaded to the PC. It may be a few weeks. I'm hauling **** to get the Nova together for a Dyno Day on March 29th! Next few days are plumbing the brakes!
