Default Daytona Coupe, 6 speed is in!

Many of you may remember when I installed a LS1 in my Factory Five Racing Daytona Coupe. Well last year I decided my winter project would be to add a T56 to it to complete the package.

Old conversion thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...onversion.html

The engine and T56 6 speed trans are bolted up and installed. I just finished fabricating the hydraulic clutch setup with the Wilwood 3/4 remote reservoir master cylinder. I just need to mount the reservoir and it is done. I hope to have it bled this weekend and then start wrapping it up.

Here are some pics:

Newer pic of the car:

Made the new mounts with a grinder and a hole saw:

Engine bolted to new mounts:

New master cylinder:

Had to slightly modify the clutch pedal:

Thanks! The car is a blast at speed but will bite you very quickly.

Here is one of the wilder laps I have recorded. I found out that wild does not equate to fast lap times. Later in the day I was 2 seconds faster that this lap...but not quite as fun!

Nice upgrade over the TKO.
Good job on those mounts, they look great.
How did you run the exhaust? Did you use Burns mufflers?
How much does it weigh?

That must be a blast, it'll bite pretty quick, hah. Turn that beast into a drifter, hah.
Awesome job man.

Thanks guys!

I have not got around to painting the spoiler yet, but will get to it this summer.

Tig I am still working on the exhaust. I am going to try Lobaks in 3.5" pipe. We will see. The car does not drift well with the rear weight bias. That is why I shifted the engine forward trying to get to 50/50 for some balance.

The car put down 350 RWHP and weighs 2260 lbs in race trim. I ended up selling my Kuhmo XS's and am now running NT01 for autocross and street trying to find some traction. I was unable to use full throttle in 1st or 2nd with the XS's. The Nittos hook much better.

Here is what it should sound like with the Lobaks:

Well I am finally finished fabbing up the new exhaust. With some help from 2 friends we got the exhaust bolted in and the hood on. I will try to finish up the wiring tomorrow and hopefully get it running. The exhaust is 2.5" to a SS V-band clamp to a 2.5"-3.5" cone welded to a SS 3.5" pipe. The 3.5" SS pipe will have Lobak spiral inserts installed in them to control the bark.

Here is what a roadster sounds like with the Lobaks. I raced against Bob 2.5 years ago at Nashville Super Speedway. While his car sounds as loud idling in the pits as a FFR pipe setup, he was 6 DB quieter than my coupe on the track according to the official sound meter. I was around 95DB while he was 89 DB. The next year I raced against a guy with standard FFR sidepipes (probably blown out) and he was recorded at 103 DB while I clocked in at 92 DB.

Blythville sound data. #32 is FFR sidepipes and #71 is my Daytona with the LS1 and magnafllows:

Here are some pics of the drivers side which is different than the passenger side:
