1"setback f-body oil pan notch?
Has anyone notched the f-body oil pan for a 3rd Gen Nova or 1st Gen Camaro with 1" setback plates and not had to modify the pickup tube?
I don't think I need to take out very much, but I was wondering what the maximum you can take out of the front of the sump without hindering the pickup tube.

I took some measurements last night and found a good reference point.
There's a small concave fillet at the front bottom corner of the sump area on the pan. I'm going to notch at the rear edge of the fillet and go straight up. This should give plenty of room for the pick up tube. I'll have to trim back the baffle, as there will no longer be any material for the front two bolts into the pan casting.

I notch a F-Body pan enough to leave the stock pick up in place. But I also angled the sides to contour around the curve of the cross member.
This is a shot of it when comparing it to a CTS-V pan. I will measure and take a few more photos of it tomorrow for you. You can see how much back I started the Notch back from.

update
Sorry for the delay in posting the pictures. Pan has been sitting outside rusting some. I had to use JBWeld to seal up a few leak, will fix it soon. But I got a Holley 302-2 pan in place now.
Here is the pan, I did not have to mod the pickup, but I did have to mod the baffle some.
You can see how much I Notched the pan and also how the sides slant in to give more clearance for the Cross Member
You can see the internal baffle right up there against the Notch
Here is the baffle and how I had to also cut and bend the baffle
(don't look at the weld job, I didn't clean all of the oil off.. so, it held and no one could see it but me and now the world LOL.)
created a slot in the front for oil return to the lower sump directly.
Hope this helps..
