Default C10 5.3 swap intermittently dies

So I swapped a cammed 5.3 into my 85 c10 and for the last two months the truck has been dying randomly, I replaced the fuel pump about two weeks ago and thought i had the problem fixed. When it dies it cranks but no start, if i wait and let the truck cool down for about 15-20 minutes it starts up again and I can usually get it home. I have a switch in the truck to by pass the fuel pump request wire and turn the fuel pump on in case it dies but the switch doesn't work when the truck dies. I don't have any codes int eh computer I checked with a snap-on scanner and everything seems to work fine. any thoughts?

Does the pump have any power at all when it dies? Check your ground side yet for continuity?

Internal or external pump? Have you verified it has pressure when it won't start?
