Default "reduced power" gremlin 2004 DBW 5.3l

I put a 2004 DBW 5.3 4L60e in my 64 chevelle a while back and have slowly worked out all the bugs except a reoccurring problem with the PCM entering "reduced power" mode. This is what is commonly referred to as "limp mode" and will only allow slight throttle to be applied. When this happens I usually pull over, turn engine off, wait a few seconds, and it starts OK and runs fine for a while. Research has led me to believe that this is likely an electrical issue, but I have checked the wiring at the plug on the throttle body and everything is good.

Anyone else ever have this issue and if so what did you do to get it fixed. I don't want to just replace parts hoping it will fix the problem but do not know how to narrow down where the problem is.

Also sometimes I get a high idle that will hold steady anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 rpm. I do not know if these two issues are related.

I had this problem after I had my C6 tuned after I put in GMPP CNC LS3 heads, LS9 cam, and long tube headers.

I took off the TB - and cleaned it out with Carb cleaner - got off all the carbon - and its been fine since.

Be sure you torque down the TB bolts properly - I found one was loose and that might have caused the code as well.

Make sure you also check for vacuum leaks so you can rule that out.

Had the same problem with my Dads 6.0 after we tuned it with HPTuners. It was drive by wire. We replaced the TB and relearned idle. We replaced the plug and pigtail. Checked everything I could find on the web. Took the truck to the dealership and had them reflash the factory tune into it. It hasn't gone into reduced power since. Been 2 months.

Had this problem for years in my 03 Silverado z71 w/ 5.3...
Only happened in the winter time... never did it in the summer

Removed and cleaned tb, same thing
Checked all wires, same thing
Had a shop check everything they could think of.. couldn't find anything

Finally gave in and replaced the tb, drove all winter going up north snowmobiling every single weekend, never got reduced engine power again

Replace the throttle body... if it comes back, keep your receipt and return the throttle body
