Default Converted 4.3L FBody from a 5.7L LS1 - What would it take to correct this?

I am looking into a FBody they only want $500 for but it was a 99 TransAm that was converted into a 4.3L. I want to put the LS1 back in but Im not sure everything that was changed to put the 4.3L - How would I revert it back to an LS1? Would it need a new KMember, new transmission, ect?

Somebody should be shot! I would say they likely used an lt1 k member. Other than that prolly ecm and maybe some fuel connections at the engine.

No it's different you would need the complete drivetrain, and prolly a driveshaft. I would be sure to get all the wiring with the new engine also.

I would buy the car, get it home, start researching part numbers on everything. We can all speculate on what it is, but without looking at everything its hard to tell what is done. Does it run? Is it in good shape otherwise?

2nd thought, get it home and put a Coyote 5.0 in it for fun.

Currently doesn't run. The 4.3L seized up so it needs a new motor anyway and there would be no way I'd put a 190 HP 4.3L into such a beautiful car. But I'm not sure if I'm ganna bite given the whole drivetrain needs replacement as I went through that in a V6 and spent 2 years nearly having it put together just to have the motor seize up on me not even a week after I got it back and I don't know which shop was responsible leading me to selling the car as it became a money pit. It pisses me off to no end but I've got something bigger in the works. This car was just ganna be a side project but I don't wanna break the bank if you get my drift.

The price of a clean and low mileage 4th gen is ptetty low. So unlrss you just want to put the time and momey into doing the swap.. just go buy a LS1 4th gen... just my opinon.
