Default Dumb question - Stock Gen IV PCM with 4L80E

I am trying to plan out a swap into an 84 grand national roller I have. I tried searching and the answers to this seem to be confusing as I find a lot of people with Gen IV engines that swap to 4L80Es using standalone controllers like the TCI or Optishift units.

I have a new goodwrench 4l80E in the crate meant for a 2003 2500 truck.

At my local wrecking yard or ordering off Ebay it looks like I can get a ~08-09 Gen IV 4.8 with a lot less miles for about the same price as an 01-03 5.3.

Can the computer that comes with a Gen IV LR4 4.8 (I assume this is a 58x motor) run the 4L80E? I want to stick with the stock ecm.

Goofy question, did you do a search here? Correct me if wrong but I am pretty sure the E38 will handle the trans as well. The 24x using the E40 requires a separate T42 TCM.

I think so as well. You just need the right combination of parts and software.

I'm pretty sure you need the T42 TCM as well to control the trans. That's what my research has shown, and the direction I went.
