Default Can I raise the LQ9 engine off the motor mounts with a jack and 4X4 piece of wood?

I have the engine in my 99 Tahoe already (rented a cherry picker) an I just integrated the original oil cooler lines from my OBS Tahoe with the LSx oil cooler. With my mounts, I can't get the oil cooler line in, but if I raised it up about an inch, it should go in fine. Any problems with doing that from a block of wood and floor jack on the oil pan? I'd hate to have to go rent an engine hoist again for the two seconds it would take me the other way. I know the engine can easily sit on these pans, but there would be a bit more load (tranny connected). Thoughts?

I've done it without any problems many times, just don't get carried away and you'll be fine.

If you are using the factory/stock aluminum pan, you should be ok.

Here is three for three... I've done it more times than I care to count.

Yep the oil pan is a lot stronger than you would think. Allegedly if you bottom it out on a pothole the bellhousing on your th400 will crack first...not that I have seen this issue. The pan will have some pretty good scrapes and gouges in it after you drag the street with it though.

It will be fine. I do it all the time.

FYI:
Be careful if you ever attempt this with a Ford pan. Their aluminum pans are not a single cast piece like the LS, I put a 2x4 through the pan on the last Windstar I had in.

Hmmm Ford has a better idea....!

I've raised the engine many times with a jack and board... you shouldn't have any problem doing so.

Thx all; I jacked it up with the wood and it worked just fine; the new oil cooler lines (hybrid of my LSx line and my OBS tahoe line) are now installed.
