Will C5 T56 internals work in -00 Camaro LS1 T56?

Will C5 T56 internals work in -00 Camaro LS1 T56? I've found all sorts of conversions and builds via google but not this one.
I've found a -00 Camaro T56 that is in pretty bad shape. Apparantly it sounds like it has straight cut gears.
I've found a C5 T56 in good shape.
I want to put a transfer case behind the camaro one.
Can I swap the internals from the C5 into it?
Or...
Can I use the Camaro main shaft, front adapter, bell, shift linkage etc. in the C5 T56? Either way I'm using the C5 tailhousing or "adapter" for the diff. But my diff will actually be a transfer case.
Thing is, I need the shorter main shaft and the shiftlinkage from the camaro T56.
Anyone this good at all the t56's???
