Question lq4/th350

Hey guys I have a 86 monte Carlo I'm doing a swap in. I have the flat 6.0 flexplate with the spacer Sandwiched in between flexplate and crank. I have a Coan converter for gen 1 small block. I know converter is fully seated but when spinning converter it stops on humps on flexplate. So if I bolt it up there the converter won't pull out.So my question is will the trans pump be ok if it doesn't pull out of the transmission a little. Has a anyone had this problem?
