Default fox body braking advice

About finish up the front end on my ls swapped fox body. Got the parts to do the five lug swap up front using sn95 parts. My question is am I gonna be better off with the stock gt disk brakes up front using the 11" rotor or do the cobra disk brakes instead with the 13" rotor? Im sure you guys have experience and can advise me. I havent driven one with either to get a feel for the two.

"Better off" would be the Cobra set-up. My last two foxes had the 13" Cobra set-up in the front and 12" rear discs on an IRS set-up, no complaints with the braking from me.

Depending on what your car is setup for the standard GT setup may be fine for you.

just make sure you get the matching master cylinder to get the proper brake feel and pressure.

It depends on what you plan to do with the car. If you are running skinnies on the front, then any SN95 front brake setup will be fine, get whatever is cheapest.

I have had fox cars with 13" Cobra brakes, and 12" 99-04 V6 brakes. Cobra brakes are better, but the 99+ V6 brakes are probably near 90% as good for about 20% the price. The 99+ V6 brakes are the same as the 99+ GT brakes and both options are way better than 94-98 GT brake options.

For a road race car I would not buy either, but Cobra brakes tend to work fine in rod race applications with good rotors like OEM Brembo rotors, but they are mega-dollars.

I recommend you go read the brakes FAQ on Maximum Motorsports website, it has lots of information which will take hours to dig through on the Mustang websites.

When I did front brakes on my 2000 GT, I found it was the same price to go to the Cobra calipers and rotors as the stock replacement parts and the result was much better.

there just the same as Mark VII rotors and most 5 lug rims will not fit correctly. Now if your just looking at a 15" drag wheel then you should be good.

almost forgot, the Cobra front brakes will also have issues with 15" rims. You can get them to fit but only after grinding the caliper or spacing out the rim. So if you use Cobra fronts then I would go at least 16 but 17 has a better selection.

Because then he'd be stuck with the crappy Fox spindles and rotors with integrated wheel bearings. The SN95 spindles have better geometry, are stronger, and give you way more options for future upgrades.

Correct. I chose to go with the SN95 disk brakes in the front and rear. I'll see how they work out for me!

SN95 Cobra brakes all the way with a 1993 Cobra master cylinder and gut the proportioning valve and plug it.
