I don't have a LS swapped truck but the swap should be quite easy. It's been done, you need to search this forum a bit. That gen truck has a ton of room...you could just buy a complete 6.0 or 5.3. I'd use the tranny and transfer case from the modern power plant.

To get around all the wiring you could keep it a carb powered vehicle (use the edelbrock intake /controller). Fuel system would be easy too. Drop a late gen fuel bucket in the 73-87 tank...Ez pz done.

Stuff is not cheap.....

Lots of good swap knowledge from people here....

Super easy to adapt a factory ls truck harness and fuse block to work on those trucks. We did one on my little brothers 79 k10 and moved the trans and tcase 1" forward and were able to run factory truck manifolds.

lq9 should be more than enough for what im doing with mine. Just getting long tubes and magnaflow exhaust and a dyno tune. I should be pushing close to 380hp to the wheels... Undecided on a cam or not, don't know if I can justify spending another $1000 on this project.

Tooley just released some cams deigned for trucks. Kit is under 500 bucks.. you should look into that. I'm go build me one soon... I can't afford to pay 700 bucks or more for a new truck for 60 months plus....

Yea, new truck prices are outrageous. I would rather have an old body with a badass motor. a short wheel base, single cab pushing close to 400hp to the wheels... not many trucks on the road will be able to touch it. Used is the way to go IMO
