put it back in the original pin, and put a 470 ohm resistor in-line.

Default Alternator rewire

I tried to put a DR44 on an '03 5.3 and wire it to the computer but it would not charge, just fail to the 13.8 volts. Once I installed the correct alternator and changed the plug back to stock it started charging again. Guess it's something to do with the alternator internal wiring.

I have the corvette alt on my 99 f-body this is the alt I used off of a 2000 corvette it's a ac delco part # 334-1280 you don't have to re pin anything just plug it in and it works perfectly fine just like a stock f body alt. You can also get a different regular put in the alt that will eliminate the exciter wire and will self regulate its self

For what it's wrth, mine is a C6 alternator. Was yours purchased used? Have you had it tested? Most auto stores will do it for free. If you don't mind cutting the wire, you could try jumpering it directly to the battery, with the 470. Resistor in-line. If you still get 18.8 volts, I would think either the resistor is shorted, or your regulator is bad.

You need to check the year the alternator came from and look at the Corvette wiring setup. If it is not using 'f' terminal then you will probably need to wire it like a Vette and program the PCM for the terminal type or at least figure out the differences based on the wiring. I went to a 04 GTO OS with a Camaro wiring and it would not charge until the setting was changed and the PCM was reprogrammed to a 'f' type charging. Same problem no charging until the change. No wiring was changed.

so i would need to access that in hp tunners? and did you also do a 470 ohm resisitor?

I tested the alt and it passed all of them i am lost!!!!

Do you have pics of your setup?

Also, you may wish to check this reference for the correct pinout connection from your alternator to your ECU. If you are using a GM ECU, then the 470 ohm resistor will not be needed. If you are connecting the brown wire directly to "keyed positive" (or the battery, for testing), then you will need the resistor.
