Default Looking Foward To It

Good luck on the build. Sounds like it will be fun when it's done.

Thanks. This was my first car bought it when I was 14 put a full interior in it, 383 and drove the **** out of it for 2 years fighting the carb and rust in the fuel tank, breaking the IRS and sbc mechanical pump monthly.
I have high hopes for it the motor sits so far back in these cars there's alot of room in front of the motor just no room next too it. Also there's great weight transfer due to how far back the motor and trans sits and only having a 98" wheel base.

Motor, radiator pulled, front battering ram removed and flip up lights removed. Keep in mind the motor sits completely behind the front cross member lots of room froward but not a lot of room up and down.

drivers side comes out right at the control arm and I cant swap sides because then it hits the brake booster. I may decide manual breaks and I will have plenty of room. the passenger side hits the frame rail. I think I can cut some more off the manifolds and make them work.

I'm thinking a edelbrock 7139 intake. Any one ran one in a boosted application.

did you already remove the factory dash? make sure you think hard about that removal. I did the same thing in my 79 camaro. Didnt mind for about two years then wished i would have kept the factory dash. Now i have a metal dash that i wrapped in blacked vinyl and my gauges are prosport electric gauges. They look nice. the tablet will have a glare and issues come with running a tablet when tuning it plugs in the obd2 port right? so you will unplug and plug tuner in every time for ahwhile. I love the build though. I agree you could get some sch 40 pipe and make those stock manifolds come out a little farther and work with vbands.

It's running msdroid. There is no obd2 port on megasquirt ecu. There is a serial you can run a serial to Bluetooth or serial to USB and hook it to the tablet or computer. Tune, data log, and real time gauges all in one app wireless or wired. The vette is shaded well inside not to worried about glare. I'm repurposing the stock gauges to keep speed, oil pressure and temps just to have a backup if there is an issue with the tablet.
Stock dash is junk. I'm reusing the stock mounts Should I decide to go back that way later but I never see that happening.
I'm building an alluminum center console as well. Should have it close this weekend.

nice interlocking flanges

emusa 38mm gate
1980 corvette, 5.3, e85, microsquirt, turbo, 4link, 8.8...-kp6qnxs.png

the 8.8 has been narrowed just need to final weld and buy 1 right hand explorer axle

hooked the air compressor to the emusa wastegate and it takes 35psi coming out of my compressor to keep it open all the way. there is significant leak coming around the valve stem is this normal or do I need to tear it down to figure out if there is a seal or something missing

I'm new to this so care to expand on what a firering is on a waste gate. I pulled the large spring out and plan to only use the smaller one and see how it reacts to boost and go from there.
from the reviews I have read online this leaking is a common problem I took it apart and put it back together everything looks fine just exsessive clearance between the waste gate valve stem and the guide.
I scored some stuff off the forum the last few days at good prices. That's going to help keep the project moving.
My 4 link is on back order should ship the 30th of September not to happy when jegs said it was instock. Oh well.
Decided to do some building to my th350c(lockup version) instead of going th400 or 4l80e. Just going to do a manual vb mods and drive it tell it lets go then decide where to go from there.

its kind of hard to explain you know in the box it looks like it came with a extra weld on flange? well one will be different i believe more shiny. It goes under valve seat, sits upside down in wastegate, between wastegate and weld on flange. hope that helps i dont have a pic to show you hope that helps. If you need a pic shoot me a pm. I a 5.3 with twin on3 76's in a 79 camaro running th350 and air to water intercooler. I dont mind helping at all looks fun

yep i had it in. its leaking where the valve goes up into the body of the wastegate that holds the diaphragm. with the lightest spring it takes 7psi to hold it half open. I am not to worried about it pretty cheap build if I can drive it and can see the concept coming to the light I will feel more comfortable spending some more money on much better products but this stuff makes good mockup parts and should work ok to get the car running.
