I swapped a 5.3/4l80 into my 68 c-10. Go fuel injected, however you have to do it. Going with a carb you lose quite a bit of the point of swapping an LS in. I can start my truck with a twist of the key in -5 degree weather to 110 and not even think about pumping the gas or jet changes. To me, that is worth the little bit of aggravation the wiring and stuff the fuel injection took.
P.S. Your truck is awesome, I love it!

I have a 4.8 long block a guy gave me. It blew a head gasket. It came with no int or ascy. But it was free...
I have a low mi ls1 crank and ls1 int fuel rails and a camaro water pump. And a dirty old set of 317s.
I have enough there to build a 5.3. Just put dish pistons and rods in it with arp studs and ls9 gasket and cam.
That with an 80mm bg should make nice power.

Well my build just got interesting. I just picked up a complete 6.0 pull out with everything on the engine and a dirty old 4l80e 2wd trans. The motor has the harness on it and an ecm with it. I got a great deal at $850 for all of it.
Also gave me two diff length drive shafts

I built my own motor mounts from a kit like this one for my '51 Ford Truck: http://www.welderseries.com/blog/onl...ount-urethane/.
If I did it again, I'd have used the C6corvette pedestal mounts for a few reasons.
Here's a good shot at the pedestal mounts. http://tech.corvettecentral.com/wp-c.../IMG_1172s.jpg
1. they clear the corvette manifolds and perform well (up to 500HP)
2. they offer good vibration dampening
3. they are readily available.
4. My motor mounts must be completely disassembled (unbolted from the block) to remove the engine. The pedestal mount is just one bolt on each side.
5. the corvette manifolds are very narrow. They (barely) fit within my 27" wide frame rails in my truck.
6. a platform to mount those pedestals should be easy to fabricate (and properly triangulate) Looks like you could build a triangulated support off the frame real easily.

Well I see why it was cheap. It has a broken coil pack, broke oil sender, several broke off exh bolts, dented power steering tank, the harness is cut up and it was a dirty oily mess.
I went and washed it and got it out of the truck. So I started getting it apart and I took some pics. I'll get them up in a min.
I plan on possibly buying a harness from Speartech. They are close by and have a great product.

I started to tackle rebuilding the broke down vent windows. The whole assembly cost $330 per side. But they can be rebuilt with new glass and seals for about $275 for both sides but it is a really tuff job and time consuming.
I got one built backwards and have to tear it apart again and fix it. Uhg.

So while we were in Bowling Green, KY for the LS fest, I thought I would go to the museum and check out the cool corvette stuff. It was amazing. So many cool cars with serious history behind them.
And the hole in the floor was pretty wild to see.
They had a few vehicles I heard were "dirt cheap now" lol. Sorry.
