Default cruise not working...please help

Ever since my swap (99 trans am ls1into 00 firebird v6) my cruise control hasn't worked...I checked the plug and its in good I checked the fuses and their good but I dunno where to go from there or what could be wrong and I really don't want to just take it out cause I need it to prevent tickets (I tend to have a case of lead foot)...could anyone help me fix this? Any suggestions?

When you swapped to the LS1, did you rewire the cruise module? You may need to wire it in a stand alone configuration to make it work.

Im not 100% sure on how F bodies are wired, so it's possible that it may be a plug and play, but there are a couple of wires that are tied into the PCM. They are the Cruise Inhibit signal and the VSS. I assume you have a functioning speedometer, and that the VSS wire from the LS! PCM is hooked to it, so the cruise could be tied into that wire. You may need to do a continuity test between the PCM and cruise module plug. On the PCM, connector C2 pin 50 will have a dark green wire, check it and the cruise plug pin K. If you have continuity on those two ends of that wire, then check PCM C2 pin 37 also a dark green wire, to cruise plug pin H, you should have continuity between them also.

But first, I would check to see that you have 12v on the cruise plug pin F.

Also, you don't have any kind of aftermarket LED taillights do you? If so, the cruise won't work with them, but there are ways around that.

This should give you some things to check as a start. Ill check back and see what you found out.

Ill start checking those wires later on when I get home...my Speedo works but its off cause of my rear gearing and my tail lights are stock bulbs I tried leds once before and learned they won't work the hard way and haven't done it since

Ok I checked the wiring and both wires on the cruise module are hot and pin 37 on the pcm is hot but pin 50 is dead...what do I do now?

I'm not sure I exactly follow you? When you say both wires on the cruise module and pin 37 are "hot", are you saying that they have continuity between the PCM connector and the cruise module connector, or that they have voltage? You should have voltage (12v) on pin F of the cruise module plug, have you verified that?

When you say pin 50 is dead, do you mean there is no continuity between it and pin K of the cruise plug?

Pin 50 has no power going to it and both green wires on the module and pin 37 has power going through it...do you know what color F is?

I used a test light should I be using a voltage meter instead?

First off, you should never test a computer circuit with a test light. You need a voltmeter.

Second, you're not looking for voltage on those two green wires. What you are looking for is continuity. What that means is, that one end of the wire is physically connected to the other end. If they are not connected somewhere in the harness, you will not have continuity. The best way to check this is with a voltmeter

The only wire you are looking for power on, and can safely check with your test light is pin F. I don't recall the color of it, but I am almost sure it is going to be pink since it's an ignition wire. It should have power when the key is in the on position.

Did a quick Youtube search, this may help you understand it a little better.

Ok I did the continuity test and both wires had continuity and the pink 12V had power going through it...what's the next step?

Guess you should always start with the easy things. But at least you got it working.

It was the ground right below the longest radiator hose on the fuse box side...mine had a ground strap and a ground wire connected to a screw going into the body

Can you elaborate on this a bit? I'm thinking of getting a nice v6 body to drop my LS into. I plan to use my PCM and engine harness. I will also be using the cruise and traction module and cables from my LS car (which had cruise and traction).

The v6 also has cruise and traction but as you know its DBW unlike our DBC LS motors. What was needed to wire up the DBC traction/cruise module to the v6? Did you just use the engine bay harness (the harness with fuse blocks, etc that run into the car on the driver side) from the LS car so you could plug in the module? Did the cruise switch in the v6 car work with no additional rewiring?

Any input is appreciated!
