E36 m3 ls1/t56
Well guys I picked up my e36 with an LS1 just yesterday. I figured I would hop in this section as I have spent a lot of time here however, have never had any reason to introduce myself. I am not new the forums however as I recently sold my 04 CTS-V to pick up a toy. This M3 seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Well on to the pictures because honestly thats the most important part right?
I did have one question to all of you guys who have swapped them in. Do you guys have a somewhat stiff gas pedal? Also what were some of the things you wish you did differently or some of the things that you feel took this car to the next level even if its small. Just trying to collect a bunch of knowledge!

My car does have a stiff gas pedal. It was a lot worse with the original Lokar cable that was used. It has been replaced and is better, but it's not as smooth as my stock E36.
As far as doing things different, absolutely! The list is too long. It starts with the "while I'm in there" upgrades. Then the speed bug bites. It's addicting!
Congrats on the purchase :-)

Haha thanks unnatrl. What cable are you using now?
It had been daily driven for about 5 years and maintained very well. First on my list will be wheels and tires (could use some suggestions for fitment). Need to repaint the front and rear bumper (may paint trim while I am at it). Then just enjoy it till I get the bug to do some more stuff. I also will most likely tuck some of the wiring in the bay as its everywhere up top. I may see if I can shove some of it in the cowl.

I'm using another Lokar cable. The 1st one ended up cutting into the aluminum nut at the firewall. The second one seems to be working fine, but it doesn't have many miles on it. Time will tell.
There are so many different wheel combinations for an E36 it can make your head spin.
It's always fun buying a project and cleaning up all the small things. Make it yours and enjoy it!

Will do! Anyone know if the charcoal canister is necessary to retain with the LS1? Does it do anything? It is still installed and seems hooked up just not sure it is necessary anymore without the original engine in it.

Nice E36. What suspension is on it?
Glass headlights would be good upgrade.
For wheels I'd suggest looking at pictures of E36's you think look good and researching their fitment. From your pics I can't even tell what wheels are on your car....I'm not a fan of black wheels.

I am looking at the ARC-8's a full set is around 1k and seems to fit everything I want. The wheels are BMW 17" M3 Double Spoke II wheels powdercoated black. They are just not my style. I want to run 255 on the rear 235 on the front with minor fender roll but i will most liley just run 245 rear 235 front
My throttle cable has a little bit of slack and the adjuster seems to be all the way out. Did you just use a lokar LS1 cable?

Got the Throttle cable figured out a little bit. Took it out shortened it about 1/4" tightened it back down adjusted the nuts for the bracket and now there is very little slop. Also lubed up the spring behind the gas pedal and the spring/cable on the throttle body. Definitely feels a little more smooth.

I need to paint the front/rear bumpers as well as the side skirts. I was contemplating also painting the front/rear/side molding. What is everyones thought process on fully color matched M3's? Do you guys prefer the black trim?
