Default 5.3 TB and parts questions.

Hey i gotta quick question I'm still primarily in the parts gathering stage of my build and i was wondering what would u guys prefer. My motor is a drive by wire with intake but no tb or pedal assembly but i do have a drive by cable tb . I have no harness or emc . What would u guys think would make for a better set up ? I've also read the the electric fans off of a ford van are a good and cheaper upgrade for cooling. Can anyone back that and if so what years should i look for?

Also has anyone backed an old g body with a ford 8.8 rear end ? I'm waiting to put one in a 62 63 Bel Air .

A lot depends on what year motor. An 07+ is unlikely to even have the capability for cable TB.

That should have a 24x reluctor which should allow for cable TB.
Are you planning on doing your own harness or buying one already made?

The easiest way to tell if it is a GEn II or a Gen IV engine is by looking at the reluctor wheel and where the cam sensor is mounted. 24 tooth reluctor and cam sensor in the rear = Gen III. 58 tooth reluctor and cam sensor in the front cover = Gen IV. Once you figure out which one you have, then you have options. Although from what I understand the Gen IVs can't be used with cable TBs.

Trying to keep it budget friendly so i would like to do my own harness . Its going in a 63 4 door Bel Air as a daily cruiser . My only real mods i have for it is a cam swap from a lq4 and I'm trying to find a nice set of springs or pick up some better heads with better springs . I want to be able to get down with anything else on the road , but something friendly enough that my year old son can ride in down the street or out of town .

OK, first, piecing together parts and not getting a complete takeout with harness, ecu, TAC, etc is going to double the price of your swap. Your "budget" idea is pretty much gone. But guessing too late to do anything about that.
Highest probability of a working setup is to source a harness, ecu, TAC, pedal, sensors, etc from an 06 truck. This will be DBW. Like I said, this can get expensive, especially if you need to buy new stuff.
Next option is to contact a custom harness maker and have them supply ecu. Again, expensive.
It's possible you cound go with 99-02 f body harness, cable TB, and 411 ecu. But you'll be mixing parts that might or might not work.

Where in my post did I say anything about needing a crank puller (whatever that is???). Simple observation is all you need.

You can also check the crank sensor, black vs grey for 24 vs 58x reluctor.

I didn't figure having to piece everything together would be completely cheap but considering everything pictured didn't even cost me $400 i wont complain to much and my local yard had an 02 Camaro which i had gotten my oil pan from . I need to go back and check on harness and ecu they quoted me $150 last time i asked and $250 for the truck stuff

If you've got a yard that you can trust to pull an 06 truck harness, pedal, TAC, and ecu from the same vehicle, I would suggest that route.
However, in my experience they throw together anything they have laying around.

I normally go with them and do half the pulling to make they don't destroy everything

Just a note on your harness. Looks like you'll be using an LS1 intake. If you can find a flex fuel L59 motor, the injectors will fit the LS1 intake with aftermarket rails.
Also, some trucks came with a huge adjustable pedal assembly, avoid those. I've read their TAC and ecu have issues with the standard pedals.

I honestly think I'm going to just run the truck intake and try to shave it down because I've read on here the truck intake out flows the ls1. I really only got the ls1 intake because i got it dirt cheap, and if i ever wanted to switch it over for looks.

Sorry i know this is probably a pretty stupid/noobish question but besides for the truck badging how would i be able to tell if its a l59 and which trucks do i need to avoid for the above mentioned pedal.

Anything marked flex fuel will be the L59. And I think all the L59s had the square stainless fuel rail.
As for the pedal, gotta look, but you cant confuse it with the standard assembly.
