1989 Silverado 5.3 swap.
So I'm in the process of swapping a 2001 DBW 5.3/4l60e (130,000 miles) into my 89 c1500. I have gathered a few parts up for it, Dirty Dingo mounts and a/c bracket, GMPP muscle car oil pan (truck has 4/6 drop so I figured this would give me a little more clearance) LS6 valve springs, LS2 timing chain, vette servo for the trans and Schoenfeld long tube headers. I also have a LS2 camshaft and front cover that was given to me, may use it since it's free. I have heard it works well in a 5.3 and that it is a waste of time. My main question is what else should I do to the engine? Would a new oil pump be a good idea?

You could take a rod cap off check bearing wear, new timing chain possibly. Oil pump I dont think they have a problem in general tho. A 2001 motor should have throttle cable not DBW. Gm started in 2003 on trucks for DBW. You figured out wiring yet?

Well I thought the same thing, but it came out of a Tahoe and supposedly some of those were DBW. It is the first gen DBW throttle body with two connectors. I'm getting a PSI harness for it. I pulled the pan and valve covers and there is no sludge at all, the heads just have that light gold tint on them. Someone must have taken care of it. I have a new ls2 timing chain for it. I'll get some pics of the truck and motor up today.

I had a 2001 GMC Yukon it was cable throttle. If motor clean I would just do the cam change out/ timing chain while there. You find any info here or wiring on LT1 Swap.com.Brendan can reprogram your pcm for you. Look into it if you want. Just programmed my pcm $75.00 with a good street tune.

Decided to scrap the ls2 cam idea, didn't want to buy a new chain cover and gear. I bought a 02-04 Z06 cam and springs from another member on here and will be using that.
