Default LS1 into s2000 swap

Scooped up a 02 s2000 roller about 5 months ago and just had to do the build of my dream. Started stripping the roller and getting it ready for ls1 while I looked for a trans am t56 car. Picked up a 98 trans am about 2 weeks ago and got straight to work. The trans am ran and drove fine but it smoked a good bit. Compression tested over 120 in all the cylinders, took the heads off and pulled the pistons out. Cylinder walls are pretty scratched up and the cam shaft bearings were shot so i plan on dropping it off to a machine shop to have all the bearings replaced and have the cylinder walls polished and the crank shaft re balanced.

At this point i'm not sure which direction i want to take. I am a college student with a part time job that doesn't pay much so this would be considered a junk yard build because i can't afford that pricey ****. I plan on re ringing the engine and using the same internals, and at the same time I want to just rebuild it all and raise the compression up a bit to make for a nasty N/A car, that'd also handle a 150-200 shot in a year or two. The plan as of now is untouched 243 heads and an ms4 cam, and an ls6 intake. Some recommendations would be nice on what i should do with the bottom end.

I will be going with a ford IRS rear end with DSS cut driveshaft and axles. I will be making all the mounts myself, but plan on buying a wiring harness that is already cut. Does anyone know who is good at cutting and splicing the harness's I already have? The cheapest harness i found was $800 and i already have both harness's.

Going to be a nice build. There was another s2000 in the FI section FYI.

As car as the harness, I went with Wiring Specialties cause of the quality and price. It's a completely new harness that's plug and play. Very high quality stuff. I would say contact Yury there and see what he can do about making you a harness.

You bought that car from a guy in Waco, TX?! I drove four hours to go look at it only to find that retard spray painted the whole interior. It needed a clutch when I went to check it out a few months ago. Man you better rebuild that motor. He kept pinning it while I was looking under the hood. I'm shocked you drove from TN to Tx to get that car. I had him at 1850 and turned around when I saw the interior.

Very interesting because this car smoked like a chimney. the plan was to completely rebuild it but now I'm thinking about dumping the ls1 and getting a ls2 with a ls3 top end instead

That's a great idea. 97-98 motors are garbage. What did you spend on the car if you don't mind. Dude was very proud of that car. Were you able to drive it? Clutch was toast. Couldn't even get it in gear

I bought it from an online auction. Not that dude. I guess he sold it to the guy that ran it through the sale. I paid $3500. I had to put it in first gear and start it because the slave master cylinder was toast. Kinda got screwed over on it because I didn't know about all this **** when I bought it.

I'm pretty sure I have the pervious owners address still. He was in a trailer park outside Waco. He was a short, fat dude who lived with his parents. I just wanted the car for the trans and was gonna part the rest of it out.

I'm probably gonna end up taking the trans apart and have it inspected. I don't want to have to pull it again in the future.

I knew that was the car from the first moment I saw those wheels and firebird emblems. That interior pissed me off bc I completely forgot to ask for pics of it. I did ask if it was in good shape. He said it was perfect. And those truck exhaust tips.....

I know exactly how you feel. I got ripped of. If i saw the car in person I wouldn't have even bought it for $1500.

Please do not go with chase bay. They have bad reviews on many import sites. And for that price a Wiring Specialties is much cheaper and way better quality.

I have all the harnesses for my S2000 LS1 swap as well, but looks like I'll be going with a Tweaked harness for as close to plug and play adding in a Mil Spec connector.

Are you sending them your harness's as a core or are they just building your harness from scratch?

Yeah sorry for driving this thread way off topic. I was just shocked by how far that car traveled to get executed. It's probably not safe to say but bc I'm in this section I will, I hate fourth gens. I've owned dozens of them and I will never own another. However I buy them all the time to use the motor and trans in swaps. That was why i wanted that one. But I wouldn't have made anything back on the body and the motor and trans were in BAD shape. Plus wasn't he mileage like 170k?

On a new topic, why wouldn't you just build a harness? As long as you are thorough and double/triple check everything a harness is very simple to build. I'm building a harness for my RX8 swap right now and interfacing it with the RX8 PCM and body harness. It's pretty easy so far.

It has 128k miles. And I had it towed here. Like i said I bought it online and sent the auction the check and they mailed me the title. I was screwed when it got here.

Because i'd much rather have it done by people that do it for a living.I can do it myself. I'm not scarred. Wont be the first time i built a harness it's just time consuming and hard to pinpoint when you have issues.
