Default Boosted 4.8 swap in a 240sx aka money pit (tons of pics)

The car is a 91 240sx chassis, with a stock block 4.8L, which has a Precision Turbo 78gts (78/75) turbo and running a CTS-V t56. Tuning the car with Holley EFI HP on e85. Gonna run 18-24psi and shoot for 750whp on a mustang dyno.

Im not the greatest fabricator so don't pick on me to bad. Some of the important stuff I have either had help or like the Turbo piping I had done by my friend (pipe welder and does diesel builds mainly)

2 cars in a 1 car garage makes it pretty difficult to accomplish stuff. Lotus is now sold for a new daily driver.

Stripped the motor down, cleaned all the parts, and honed the cylinders

went with the canton pan and Holley mounts

Modified the Holley trans mount to work with the CTS-V trans. Also had to move the location of the holes on the Holley mount.

Had to make a remote shifter to make the CTS-V trans work. Used a mustang short throw to sacrifice for parts. Ended up being way more involved then i thought. But thats how these builds always end up going. lol

my friend helped me fab this part. Its the base for the shifter sit on. Holes drilled through both sides of the part for weight reduction... its lighter then a chunk of aluminum!

my welds... not great but they are plenty strong.

Running the mill making the shifter shaft. My friend did the lathe work. Also assisted me on the mill so I didn't hurt myself or the part.

Pins to hold the shifter assembly in place on the trans.

One of the pins out of the trans

Going with a q45 diff for the vlsd and the 3.54 gear ratio. Had to swap the rear cover with a s13 diff.

My friend made these bushings to replace the front rubber diff mounts

Can also see the fuel cell

Intercooler mount I fabricated. 90% finished

Needed a break from all of the exterior stuff plus it was the dead of winter so to get out of the cold I decided to play around with some Carbon Fiber.

the latch latch was pretty tricky area, but all of it is covered.

Some flaws but shows that its real Carbon Fiber and not just a vinyl wrap.

my front license plate holder. 3 layers thick... its really stiff and only a couple ounces!

McLeod RXT twin disk rated for 1000hp/tq. Really awesome customer service with this company!

About to get put into place. Had a bunch of issues with getting the correct slave cylinder and getting the proper free play in it... ended up getting a CTS-V slave and making a spacer to go behind it.

The spacer I made minus 2 holes to go behind slave cylinder.

To put the turbo in perspective

Dirty Dingo ALT and PS mounts

Turn one custom geared power steering pump... I really hope running power steering is worth it because it has caused a lot of issues.

Had to modify the alternator bracket so the ALT could clear the hood

LJMS custom ground cam. This guy makes some incredible numbers with just his turbo cam, best in the business as far as I'm concerned

Sikky master cylinder kit

Hot side, used c6 headers flipped forward into 2-1/4 collects into 3" into the turbo

Hot side is equal length as well

Gotta keep it wrapped

Can see the cold side here. Clamps aren't on and BOV isn't installed yet.

Jeez beautiful work and beautiful S13. Been into the 240sx for a long time and this is one bad *** build sir. Super stoked to see the progress.

What rad and fan setup are you looking to use?

Thanks for the kind words... Im going with Chase Bays "Tucked" radiator. Ill be posting more pics of that as well, hopefully later tonight. I havent bought fans yet but im most likely will be doing one push and one pull fan do to clearance issues that you will see in the pics. Running power steering moved my alternator to the pass side which pushed my turbo more forward which then took almost all of my room for a radiator.

Chase Bays Rad

Have to cut this out to fit the radiator

Cut the pinch seem out and welded it to fit the rad

welds arent the greatest but they are in a pretty tricky spot.

Getting the radiator in place to make some mounts

Top view of the rad under the core support. Shows how tight of a fit it is. Most likely doing a push fan on the pass side and a pull on the driver side to have enough clearance

Looks awesome so far! I've always been into the s-chassis. If I ever ditch the money pit F-body I always say that I'll end up with one. Can't wait to see more progress.

Make sense. Also, I have seen many S Chassis-LS builds and ducting for the cooling system is key especially in a turbo setup. I am sure you thought about the ducting just wanted to provide a reminder.

Cant stop looking at the pix my friend....seriously a bad *** S-Chassis.

Looks really good man!

I agree with 2muchboostNY, I was chasing cooling issues for months with my 6.1L turbo s13 and ducting and bumper mods helped me out tons. having the crossover so close to the radiator caused problems for me. pusher fans did jack. I had to cut the entire core support out and move the radiator forward and down to fit a Taurus fan. here's my thread, not trying to hijack just help out a little

Keep up the good work man!! Good luck

Love your build! I have been pretty worried about keeping her cool... Im hoping that the vented hood will assist in getting some of the heat out. Im still not counting out cutting that core support out of her. I figured i would get it running and go from there.

Dude great build. You need to make a turbo kit for us ls swap s chasis folks. Im sure you can make some money.

And with all the fab skills, why went with sikky mc kit when you can get all the parts for cheaper?
