Default HP/LS1 Intake Question

I just cant seem to find the answer.

All things considered equal.

At what HP does a stock LS1 intake become inadequate?

350hp?
400hp?
450hp?
500hp?

What do you mean "inadequate"?

First I should point out I know very little about the LS format. My experience is gen 1. So in my old world the more HP I made, the larger the carb I needed to feed the beast. My last build some 12 years ago netted me nearly 500tq using a 780 cfm carb which was up 25tq with just a carb change.

So when I search the LS sight what I see is higher HP builds using LS6 intakes or FAST or so on.

That being said my goal is not super huge HP. I still like it old skool where torque is my friend.

"Fast 90 intake and TB" from yours.

Well the stock LS1 in only 346 cubic inches so it's never going to be a torque monster with a set of good flowing heads, cam and intake. If you want better torque production from a motor like this your best bet is a positive displaement blower or turbo. Of course nitrous will be the king of massive torque production but obviously it's not there all the time. More aggressive gearing would also help the manipulation of torque as well

Forgot to add. I am thinking of a LQ9/LQ4 6.0L as my starting point.
I still believe there is no replacement for displacement.
Plus I am thinking budget swap for now.

I run a LQ9 as well and it's definitely torquier than the LS1 I had before. My heads are budget heads as well, but the it performs strong for what it is

What are you putting it in?
The stock LQ9 intake is better than the LS1 intake.

I had read that too. But it is a 79 Camaro and would have hood clearance issues. I have read it takes at least a 3" cowl to clear.

Cool if your running a BB Dual Quad monster or turbo set up. False advertising if your not.

Welcome to LS1tech!

No pistons or cranks in this so you'll be better off in the Conversations section to get your LS into a 2nd gen Camaro.

I'd say LS1 intake to 375 HP, LS6 intake good to 475 or so.

Stock GM LS1 intake was used in 350hp motor. LS6 in 400hp motors.
Also check out the dyno curves on LS1 vs LS6. With the LS6 intake, cam, heads, pretty much all the hp increase is over 5000 rpm.
The 6.0 LQ9 and Later LQ4s ran the LS1 cam. So adding an LS6 intake with the stock cam probably wont buy you much hp, and even less torque.
