Default Vehicross LS conversion questions

Hello everyone,

I've got a 1999 Isuzu Vehicross that I'm swapping in either an LS1 or LS4.

I want to keep it as simple as possible so I'm keeping the 4L30E and Borg Warner transfer case. Level 10 makes a 700hp rebuild kit for the 4L30E so I'm not too worried about its weakness right now. I was wondering about the wiring and electrical. What do I need to make the engine and transmission work together computer and electrical wise and what you would recommend I use for the harness, ECM and TCM.

any advice and help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Stefan

I would call one of sponsers to find your answers on that even before you get started. It may not be something you want to get into.

FYI... The LS1 and LS4 are two different engine configurations.. the LS4 being a transverse /front wheel drive engine and the LS1 being a conventional rear wheel drive engine.

Research what might be a better engine to use in you swap.

From what Ive researched, the LS4 will mount directly to my stock 4L30E. I just have to create a mounting bracket to fit a starter on the engine because the bell housing on the trans doesn't have a starter mount. But then theres the wiring and electrical. I have no idea how it will all wire up together. I've researched for hours and hours and haven't figured anything out. Thats why i was thinking about the complete LS1 and 4L60E swap to simplify the wiring but I will have to make new trans mounts and get an adaptor plate for the transfer case and new drive shafts.

I really want to make the LS4 work because it simplifies the mechanical instal but complicates it in the electrical aspect. I would love to find a painless wiring harness and control module that will connect with the transmission at least and then I can wire up the dash myself.

Call John with http://psiconversion.com/ 732.444.3277

They have harnesses for anything and everything LS, I am sure he can get you what you need to wire and fire that swap.
