Default ls1 swapped rx8 wont go into 4th or OD

So i swapped in a 2000 camaro auto ls1/4l60e using camaro ecu and all that goodness. Well the problem that im having is that the tranny wont shift into 4th.

I dont own hp tuners to manually shift it. And with the way the swap is done the shift linkage can only be shifted into p.r.n.d.3. Anything lower then that and the shifter hits the housing and isnt able to shift.

The car runs amazing except for no 4th or OD.

The only ecu code i get is a maft code. So ill swap that out with a new maft.

I really cant bring it to mazda for help :/

I really dont want to swap out the tranny if its just a wiring issue. Im at a loss here. I know it may be out of alot of guys elements. But any help counts

Heres a link to it running

So 2nd works just fine? Has the pcm been tuned for your gear ratio/tire combo? You really need a scan tool that can command 4th to see if it's just a programming issue. The 4l60e uses the 2-4 band for both 2nd and 4th gear. If it holds in 2nd it should hold in 4th. If 3rd is ok then the 3-4 clutches should be ok. There could be a valve body, shift solenoid, or servo issue if it's not programming. Is the fluid burnt?

How do you have the purple tcc wire connected for the overdrive release switch?

Where are you located?

Pm me a phone number and I can talk you through troubleshooting it.

Yes!

1-3 work. A little jerky (im guessing i need to see where my line pressure is at)

I do need to get it tuned with hp tuners. Hammering on it, it shifts at 6500rpm. Im really not happy with that high of a shift point. Would feel more comfortable around 5800-6k rpms.

Im thinking the guy who owned the camaro before me had it tuned messed with possibly. Higher line pressure, Higher shiftpoints, ect?

But the car has a stiff/sloppy/jerking shift. Feels like the clutch packs arent gripping. The whole tranny just feels sloppy.

But it runs. It just dosent and wont go into 4th or 0d. It will sit at 75mph and 3500-4k for rpms in 3rd.

But 1st-3rd although shifts rough. Do work and hold in gear.

Besides tuners is there a way to tell the ecu to lock it into 4th?

Fluid isnt burnt. It's a healthy pink color. Not black and dosent give off any odor.

You could use a tech2 if you have access to one. Sounds like it could possibly be a tuning issue since it hasn't been specifically tuned for your combo.

Went auto because it was cheaper. And wont have to worry about missing shifts.

1500$ for a t56 vs 300$ 4l60e.

You can use a photo hosting site. I use photobucket. There are many others. You can also upload them. You can get on RX8Club but it's full of douches who get real angry when they realize you have taken the "heart" out their beloved car. On a serious not, I bet that car is terrifying with that short gear and auto. With my 6 spd I'm at 2300 rpm at 80. What is the rpm at 80?

If it has that high of a gear ratio the shifts won't be right if the pcm wasn't tuned for the gear/tire combo. 3.42 to 4.55 is a huge jump. Hopefully that's all it is.

Dont quote me on this, but I thought the 3:42 was a 6speed gear and autos had something stupid high like 2:73? If thats the case, the OP will have some serouis trans shift time problems.

Kinda what I'm thinking. Auto cars had 2.73/3.23 and 4.44 would make for a confusing time for the trans. It's probably locked in fourth and op thinks it's in 3rd

I think the 2.73 was an option. But either way, 4.55 is way too much gear for a 4l60e unless you are running 35" tires. My e36 has 3.91 and I turn 3000 rpm at 80.

I have the 4.44 diff in my RX8 as well and with the 6 spd and stock size tires it's right at 2300 at 80.sucks too op bc the only option for the gearing the stock rx8 diff is FD 3.90s which are very pricey. You can always do an 8.8 swap for a bit more and have a seemingly infinite amount of gearing options. Oh yeah, as stated your trans is most likely fine on the mechanical end. 4th uses the band so if 2 works then four should be good. And also the 3/4 clutches so if 3rd works then it isn't likely 4th is messed up. Pretty much can't go any further until you get that tune checked out.
