Default Carb 5.3 S10 alternator question

I'll go ahead and apologize in advance, I have searched and searched and cannot seem to find the answer I am looking for.

I have a 1994 S10 that came with a throttle body 4.3.

I have put a 99 5.3 in its place, running on a carb, with a 6010 box.

I am using the 99 5.3 alternator.

The plug on the factory 4.3 wiring harness plugs in to the back of the alternator, it charges, and the gauge in the dash registers the charge. I have also verified charging at the battery with a multimeter. Everything seems to be working.

Recently I have read about the need to put a 470 ohm resistor in the 12v switched lead. This is to combat overcharging and killing the alternator. I was confidant that my setup was working, but when I started reading this, I got nervous.

I started poking around, and pin "c" (according to the pinout diagram I found online) has 12v switched power.
Pin "b" also lights the test light, but much dimmer. And reads 12v on the multimeter when the key is on

So the question is do I need to put the resistor in this lead, or is the way I have it now going to work long term?

Again I apologize if this question has been asked 1000 times.

If you have the factory wiring I do not see any problems. The reason for the 470 ohm resistor is for the aftermarket wiring systems and those without an "idiot" light.
