5.3 truck engine into a 66 GTO
Hello New to the site! Hope to get some help and ideas to do an engine swap. Putting a 5.3 Truck engine into a 66 GTO. Does anybody know if the truck oil pan will work. my 2000 Silverado is the doner vehicle. so I plan on using the harness and transmission. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
Thank you.

Do yourself a favor and spend the $350 on the Holley 302-2 pan. It is a quality piece that fits the A-bodies well and gives great ground clearance.
Do a search and check out the swap stickies. A few like yours have been done and you'll find great info in those threads. Good Luck and Welcome!

Years ago I put one in a 65 Olds 442 - Truck pan sat about 3/4" lower than the cross member with great hood clearance with an LS1 intake. If you space your motor mounts a little you could get it even with the cross member. If you do not want to deal with all that then find a 98-2002 Camaro pan or the previous mentioned pan from Holley. Good luck!

I'll check into the oil pans. I do have some 1/2" spacers I found at a swap meet a while back. trying to go cheap where I can so I can have money to spend where it counts. what transmission did you use. my car needs floor pan repair at the tunnel so it doesn't bother me to cut it to install the trucks transmission.

Maybe I can help...I've got a 5.3L truck engine in my 1972 Chevelle wagon...
Forget the truck pan...go with the F-body or Holley pan. Here's a pick of the truck pan when you drop the engine enough to run the factory truck intake...
F-body pan...

The holley pan would work well. I'd also recommend looking into a CTSV pan swap or the f body pan. They seem to have good clearance but you want to be sure to get the correct pickup tube for each specific oil pan. If you want to do the wiring harness yourself check out lt1swap.com LOTS of information there!

You do not want the muscle car pan. It hangs down far to low as well. I also would not try and space the engine up that high. The A body cars already have tiny trans tunnels and spacing the motor up would really create clearance issues on the tunnel.
The Holley pan is worth it's weight in gold for an A body swap.

My pan did not stick down nearly as far as that! I did build my own motor mounts, this aided me in positioning the engine where I wanted it.

If you raised the engine to gain truck pan clearance in a "A" body..........You "Will" have drivetrain angle issues................Just say'in....
