Default And so it begins...

In the parts gathering stage right now. Picked up a straight...but ugly...85 Notchback Mustang and a 2002 L59 5.3l from a Tahoe. Its a VIN Z which says it was a Flex Fuel engine. I hope that doesn't matter!!! Ya'll will be in for A LOT of questions from me.

should be relatively painless swap as bunch converted mustangs on here. Can use a lot of later mustang fuel system to make it work out. do the wiring on engine using LT1Swap.com get you going on that.

Just an FYI, but that isn't a 2002 engine. It's a 2003-2006/7obs engine. Hope you got the TAC and pedal for it too.

You're right!! I just ran a VIN Check and it comes back as a 2005 Suburban 5.3l Flex Fuel!

Okay, I do have the pedal and I'm hoping that this black box is a TAC module...

Yes, that's the TAC. Provided it came out of the same '05 Suburban, you should be good to go.

Sanding and priming the Notch to find all the little dings. Then its body work time.

I got the 5.3 on the stand and removed the the entire harness and ecm to get it sent off for the stand-alone conversion. When the mechanics pulled the engine from the yard, they were able to break the number 8 coil pack and the MAP sensor on the back on the intake. Do I need the MAP? It's like 46 bucks for a replacement!!! Also there is a broken exhaust manifold bolt.

Parts starting to trickle in. I got my AJE Kmember, A-arms, Bumpsteer kit, and TH400 Crossmember. Also got some UPR rear lower adjustable arms, Strange Struts/Shocks and Front Coil-over kits. I need to score a torque box reinforcement kit still and a set of double adjustable uppers with heim joints for my 9 inch rear.

I also managed to get the 4 banger and auto tranny out. Guy I bought it from told me it was a 6 cylinder so I took his word for it. Once I got to fiddling with it, it only had 4 spark plugs!

Couple more updates got the engine bay stripped pretty good and got that old k-member and a-arms out. That was a pain and I can definately see how much weight savings there will be using tubular units.

Found my core support bent all to Hades. Guess I'll be going tubular support as well. It's only money, right?

I have a 9 inch set up for Fox and a five lug 8.8 that will need to be rebuilt. Still haven't decided on which axle I'm going to use.

Apparently, I have to have 50 posts to be able to post in the Parts Wanted section, but I need an F-Body oil pan set-up in a bad way. I could also use a truck throttle body that is cable driven and the throttle cable bracket, or I will buy a complete truck intake with all the parts if you have one. If you read this and have these for sale....PLEASE PM ME!

Cut that bent up core support out and replaced with tube. Also replacing that heavy front bumper with a tube support as well. Got the AJE stuff mounted along with a manual rack and new steering shaft. Need to source some V8 Fox spindles so I can install the coil-overs and struts.
