Default MAF signal

'06 express van 6.0/4l80e. original comes with a very small MAF, I didn't want to use that in my swap so for the time being I set it up to run SD and its been awesome for 8+years probably. Well, finally getting around to make a 'CAI' set up and going to add the MAF back using a truck MAF, ie its 5 wires and larger than the van one.
I have the IAT working thru the maf, it reads correctly. That leave a 12v, ground, and MAF signal.
C should be ground, D is 12v and E is
the signal to pin 31 on green side of PCM.
I have verified I have 12v going thru C. Its grounded. but no reading in HPTuners scanner for MAF hz.

I have tried 3 different MAFs, one off a known running truck. all the same results.

What am I missing@?@?

On the 2006 Van, this is the Maf wiring pin outs;
A Maf signal pin 31
B 12V
C Ground
D IAT signal pin 25
E Low reference pin 57

On the 2006 pick-up;
A Low reference pin 57
B IAT signal pin 25
C Ground
D 12V
E Maf signal pin 31

It should read some values even if in SD mode. I have the tune to fail at 0hz. But should still show airflow. The P codes are set to fail on first.
I have turned MAF to 14000 hz and still nothing.

Thinking I will wire back in the express van MAF and see if it shows anything. Don't see how that will change anything.

Any other ideas?

Why not just wire the Maf correctly as I posted above?
