As if I didn't have enough build threads going on as it is (some threads on here). Found a Coupe at a buddies wrecking yard that he was going to auction.

Well a buddy kinda snaked it out from under me, then realized he didn't really have the money to do anything with it other than get it running again. Knowing that I've had dozens of them, and a big enough shop to take on yet another project, we worked out a pretty sweet deal. Ended up paying $1,500 for it lol.

Some specs on the car:
-Original 5.0/5spd
-Someone converted to carb, but left all the EFI stuff in the trunk lol.
-Motor has a cringeful knock.
-Full suspension/tubular control arms

When I picked it up


When I got it back to the shop


What I noticed as soon as I was able to get some wrench time in it.

-It's obviously been hit in the driver side rocker.
-It's a manual car that someone put a power driver door on, left the power guts in it, with no way to lower the window.
-A few hinge bolts were broken off in the pillar, so the driver hinges were barely held on.
-Someone put a Pep Boys carbon fiber like 10" steering wheel on it.
-No keys, no ignition cylinder.
-Steering column was loose.
-Someone rigged the passenger side original door to hell. It had an electric actuator in it, and someone zip tied and clamped the manual door rod to it. None of the inner rods were there. They were all in the bottom of the door with broken clips.
-Cirvinis Saleen kit that was put on with self tappers and bondo.
-Poorly relocated battery
-Terrible HID's
-Did I mention carb 302?
-Cheap racing seats


A few hours between projects and about $400 later
-Removed driver door to scrap it
-Removed fenders to trash them
-Extracted broken hinge bolts
-New rocker on the way
-New hinge pin kits
-Passenger side door rods fixed/power actuator removed
-All new locks and ignition (surprisingly the chime and everything still works)
-Good set of 91 fenders with extensions
-LX rear bumper
-Welded up all the holes that were drilled to install the Saleen kit
-New column cover pieces
-Found multiple bolts on steering column that were finger tight. Feels great now, everything works as it should.

I'm seriously resisting the urge to blow the motor as I'm wanting to sell the drivetrain and t5, and as much stuff as possible to recoup some $$$$.

Oh look. AJE swap kit.


Should have most of the body back together in a few days, then on to paint. Calypso green.

Plans for the car:
-Turbo 5.3
-Built T56
-Have fun without spending a fortune on a foxbody

At the end of the day It's an original 302/5spd car with black interior. So at least I have that going for me so far.

I can't wait to register my FRDSUX plates for it.

Awesome! You didn't waste any time getting all the rigged mess fixed.

I could be wrong but in my experience it's almost impossible to find a Fox Body with black interior. That's a pretty sweet score.

Getting ready for the Roundup next weekend.

Just finished up a '62 Belair Wagon I bought a few weeks ago, among a few others we will be taking. It's on polished 20" 5th gen SS wheels (ones in picture are silver mock ups off another car)



Drove 3 hours today for a supposedly clean 87-90 factory manual driver door. It was junk. Not wanting to come home with nothing, I bought an 85-86 door he had. Once you swap over all the trim and mirror there isn't really a difference.

Removed the rear Saleen bumper, which actually turned out to be just a skirt/lip. Found a Calypso LX bumper underneath. Due to it having a million screw holes in it I swapped it out with a perfect yellow bumper.

Also welded up all the screw holes that were drilled in the 1/4 panels and rockers. And the new driver rocker showed up today.

Forgot to mention that I also purchased the American Powertrain Hydraulic conversion MC and bracket only.

Looks awesome, far more simple and cleaner than the McLeod setup. Not to mention it was a little over $200 lol.

Cool build, I'm doing the same but with a 1985 LX Notch. Whatcha gonna do with those door mouldings off the 85 door? I could use them and I'm just down the road some.

I cut the upper, and in a hurry cut it a tad short. I have the lower if you want.

I need to find another upper from an 87-93.
