Default Chevelle LS Swap Steering Gear help needed

I completed my swap about a year ago now and used the jeep steering gear box at that time. I am now having hell with power steering pumps. I am on my 3rd one and it doesn't seem happy right out of the box. Of course 2 of these are Orielly specials since the 1st replacement had a lifetime warranty. When this one goes I would rather spend some money and be done with it. Also another complaint I have since installing the gearbox is that the steering does not feel like it should. It seems like you give it input with no response and then a little more movement causes a big response. I believe that is something to do with alignment. At first I assumed it was a gearbox issue and replaced it with no improvement. Every front end component is new and the power steering pump is for a late model truck without hydro boost.

So what's going on with the pump itself? Besides the input feel you mentioned?

Get a GM pump. O'rielly pumps are great if you just really like changing pumps.

The pump whines and then stops building pressure. The link provided a couple post up does not work for some reason.

Thanks for the input, I dont mind spending money on a new pump I just want that to cure my problem.

Does your pump have 2 return ports on the reservoir?
If so, which are you using?

Have you tried changing fluids to the Royal Purple synthetic? It seems to handle a lot more heat without breaking down. If that doesn't work I would look into a power steering cooler.

When I talked to Lee manufacturing they said it take more pressure to run a gear box. So I'm sending my Denali pump in with my gear box to have pressure adjusted on the pump to work with my box. Might give them a call seem pretty knowledgeable.

Maybe it works now? Not sure why it didn't work. Maybe it'll work this time.
