Default brake booster filter required

hi,
my conversion is a 5.3 engine with the fuel injection in a 1987 Cadillac Brougham that previously had a carburetted 307.
Is it necessary to use a brake booster filter? I read that ssometimes it is useful so crap doesn't get into the manifold.

It's actually to keep fuel vapors from damaging your booster. I don't believe any of the newer vehicles use them at all since they are a dry intake system. If you want to keep one then it will not harm anything, but it's not required.

Not necessary, as 1964 said they were initially put in place to keep fuel from damaging the booster diaphragm and seals.

No need for the filter, if you feel one is important you can use an inline separator from local hardware store (same kind used for building a PCV catch can system). This part needs to be oil/gas compatible so the filter element doesn't crumble and get sucked down into the manifold.
