That all depends on what you feel the engine, transmission and harness is worth and what you think you can part / sell / scrap the rest for. Most times around here a V8 car that new and "nice" goes for more than I can comfortably separate from my wallet. Have you physically seen (touched) the car or just the pictures and notes on it from the auction site?

There isn't a lot on the driver's side electronic wise, most of the electronics (PCM included) are on the front passenger's side.

It looks like the car took a fairly hard hit because the air box is moved toward the passenger side of the vehicle. Good luck with it.

To me it's worth about 5-6k...that's purely a guess as I have no idea what some people are willing to pay for such a car.

I would not pay over $6000 for the car. I have a couple friends that run large auto wrecking yards. They always base the price they buy wrecked cars for the price they can get out of the engine and trans. Then the rest of the car is all profit. Just my 2 cents!!!

dont forget about buyers fees on top of purchase price. I buy/watch salvage auctions all the time. 4 grand would be excellent buy. 6 grand ok but buyer fees on starts making things marginal. rear clip & doors probably fetch 12-1800 interior is mostly throw to crusher if air bags blown. Let alone how long the stuff going to be around before recouping money back.

They go for way more than I'd ever pay. I followed the copart auctions for a while. It will probably go for at least 10k. For that much you can get a crate ls3 and t56 and pick up a harness from someone.

Go to Copart and search for a G8 GXP. There is a very badly wrecked one in AL that hasn't been bid up very high yet. This car has a ls3 under the hood.

That car will go for well over 10k, I assure you. I looked into some of those auction sites years ago trying to get an LS motor. One that new, with that engine...I bet no less than 15k. Not to say I would ever pay that much, but someone out there will.

Yep, I can't believe people pay that much for some of these pieces of junk.

As of today, the 09 gxp is only 825. The engine and wheels are about the only items salvageable on it. It bid up to 1500 last month and didn't sell for some reason. I was watching it closely until I lucked into a iron block 5.3 for 250.

Modern salvage whatever has happened in last 15 years sucks. I used to be able to buy salvage cars like that at auction very reasonably in late 90's early 00's then something happened. Nowdays they go for huge money and people drop huge money on these cars destroyed. There is very little easy money left on the bone at that point. People show up to auctions with pocket fulls of dead presidents. But yeah my max is pay no more than you can get out of powertrain. Which sucks if all I'm buying the car for is the motor or trans. Nowdays everyone thinks everything is gold plated when they try to sell stuff.

That car will bring 6-11K depending on bidding climate.

http://www.copart.com/us/Lot/1669308...hId=1083236247 Damn, that car took a HARD hit! I would bet the transmission is broken from the engine in a wreck that bad. Also, the right coil cover is bent up a bit, so it's hard to say what kind of damage it will have once pulled. But, if it could be bought cheap, the gamble may pay off. When I worked at the salvage yard, I always hated cars that looked like someone died in, but I'm just superstitious like that!
