Default LS1 T56 McLeod Bellhousing 1/4" longer than stock - what to do???

I have a T56 I am mounting behind my 98 LS1 for my 69 Chevelle. if I include the block plate, the bellhousing (with the block plate) measures about 1/4 inch longer than stock.

1. Do I get an extended pilot bearing? not sure what this will do to fix the mechanics of it, im new to manual trans.
2. Do I get a 1/4 inch shim to put between the hyd TOB and the trans?

Whichever is to be done, where do I get the part? What have others done and worked. I have read MANY threads researching but it seems everyones case is slightly different. Looking for info on whats been done and worked and is best practice.
