Default Oil Pressure and Water Temp Sensors

Hello Everyone, I've recently bought a LS1 powered MX-5 (Miata) and have a couple of questions about the oil pressure and water temp sensors - am I right to say that the one on the side of the cylinder head is used by the ECU? Also is the oil pressure sensor at the back of the engine (next to the cam position sensor) used by the ECU or is it just for the gauges?

Yep, ect on side of head is used by the ecm. The 98 fbody sensor has a third wire for a gauge if needed.
Oil pressure is gauge only.

just like the guy above said. ECT on side of block that's two wire has to stay for the PCM. If you have a 3 wire oil pressure or 1 wire it's not needed by the computer is strictly for gauge in cluster.
