Default AC Wiring, What to do with the compressor diode?

I've read countless threads looking for an exact answer and just am finally going to ask.

What did you guys do with the diode that is wired in parallel with the compressor when controlling the AC system? I'm using a sanden 508. Do I just tee off the feed line, put a diode in and send that to ground? Please help clear this up! Thanks.

If so where did you get the diode and what rating should it be?

Google the diagrams and install it the same way. The arrow points to the banded end.

Yes, I have the diagram. Just wanting to clear it up as my compressor is grounded through the body and doesn't have the pigtail with a ground wire as the diagram outlines. Also I've found several different ratings on the diodes. What size did you guys run? Thanks.

It just needs to be rated above 12 vols and about 1-5 amps.
