Default lsx in a XLR

I am trying to decide on a project XLR. I have a forged 416" and I am wondering how difficult it would be to put it in the XLR. I know that the xlr is based on a c6 vette. I am wondering if the electronics would work ie. the engine pcm?

The engine will need its own pcm, cant use the Cadi pcm for eng functions. You may be able to keep Cadi pcm for dash gauges. Contact StreetNPerformance, their web address is hotrodlane.cc, those guys can walk you through the technical electronic stuff.

Default Xlr

The XLR and the Corvette share a lot of parts. The are basically the same chassis and were built on the same line/at the same plant. It should be fairly easy to swap the parts between the two and make a LSx engine fit.

What year XLR? I believe the 2004 XLR's are like C5 Corvettes while the 2005-2009 share more C6 Corvette parts (although I understand it is more of a C5 carry over chassis wise).

For example the 2009 XLR is an E67 ECM so that is the same ECM as a 2009 ZR1 Corvette so with the correct calibration you likely would not need to change ECMs. Make sure you have a 58x LSx engine and not a 24x engine.

Probably easier to get a new harness made but you might be able to modify the XLR harness (or at least send it to a harness shop to use as a starting point for the trunk lengths, connector points etc.).

The 2005-2007 cts-v had the e67 ecm maybe the newer ones as well. Might be a matter of a calibration and tune.

So its seems like the xlr-v would be easier swap. I was hoping to use an earlier non-V car due to costs. The early ones are pretty cheap now.

It's not that you can't use a v6 xlr, it's just the ecm swap/compatibility may be a little more involved than with the '09 xlr-v.

At the end of the day, there's always the Holley dominator. As for everything else, it's just metal, cut it up and make it fit.

Ahh, my mistake. I thought the non-V cars had the high feature v6, like my non-V cts had.

Ls3xlr - are you in the US? That car is amazing, do you have all of the gauges operating correct and everything?

I spy a cali plate so I'd say from the US. Pretty cool swap!

Is it a stick? That would be epic.

Do the xlr's originally have the rear mounted tranny like the 'vette? Or was that just an additional teaspoon of badass you personally threw in there?

So for you that don't know the XLR is built on a corvette chasie it uses corvette sub frames and suspension as far as the drive train goes it's the same set up engine up front Trans out back
But the Trans is different for the Cadillac and it's has a Northstar instead of an ls and no they don't just swap over the Northstar drive is over an inch longer then the vette
