From what I understand, if you use an LS AC Compressor, the LT line with a small bit of massaging will bolt right up to the LS compressor. So you can keep all the LT lines and such in. I'll be doing this within the next coming months.

Holley sells AC compressor brackets for your older style compressor. Then there's nothing changed on your old system at all.

Expansion valve. I think later model LT1, and all LS1 cars, used an orifice tube instead.

Is it possible to swap out the expansion valve and use an orifice tube?

Using the parts manual it looks like you would have to swap the evaporator to the LS1 type to use an orifice tube. The part in your photo appears to be part of the evaporator, not a separate part. It would probably be easier to use the expansion valve and LT1 lines, if the lines fit the new compressor.

From my experience the stock Lt1 lines should work fine with headers and a little tweaking. They bolt on to the Ls1 compressor just fine. I couldn't get them to work with stock exhaust manifolds though because they are so bulky. I ended up going Ls1 lines and adapting Lt1 ends by making my own crimps.
