Default LSA Engine PS pump fitting question..

Anybody got any ideas what can replace the factory fitting? Something o-ring with -AN threads maybe? Really don't want to buy a 50 dollar hose just to cut the end off. 2011 CTS-V engine.....

Check with Lee Manufacturing, they do great work on power steering applications...

It is a 16mm o-ring.. i used a Russell part last time. #648060 for a 16mm o-ring to AN -6 adapter.

Any -6 AN fitting that is 16mm o-ring should work.

You picked the most expensive solution, some are free....
Also note the pressure rating on any AN/JIC hose/fitting if you go that route.

The high pressure fitting on the back of the power steering pump can be unscrewed and swapped. You can use your original hoses then.
Or you can use the metric hose, cut the end off that goes to the box, put on an inverted flair fitting and double flair it.
Or theres a company (Lee?) that makes an insert to allow you to mix fittings.
Or you can get metric/inverted flair to JIC adapters (Speedway motors) and make your own hose.

lol I feel sorry for you man. Ive been looking for a specific fitting for months and no one makes them. I wanted to avoid the AN fitting route but.. seems impossible.

I wound up going with the Turn One fitting, get the -An threads away from the pulley all together....

http://www.turnone-steering.com/#!on...egory=12459196

I don't have any qualms about using -AN fittings. Never had a problem with them at all. I have a local shop that makes my power steering hoses anyway I need them.....

I wasn't all in on cutting the stock line up, I don't like the way it is still loose in the pump after you install it. Seems cheesy, but that's just me...

Thanks for all the replies, this place is great...

So...an update to this. Got the Turnone fitting and it doesn't fit. After a call to Turnone seems that they make this fitting to fit primarily the LS3 package that uses a Toyoda (yes, with a "D") style pump. The shoulder right before the o-ring is a different size than the bore of the pump. A quick trip to the lathe and it now fits the pump just fine.

Turnone wanted me to send them my fitting so they could make one and wait about 3-4 weeks....well...that didn't happen....LOL...

Thanks Andrew. The Turnone fitting is installed and works great. I'll get a picture up here in the next day or so, forgot to take one....

So is there any problems with using the correct fitting to AN adapters, an nylon /steel braided hose, and AN adapters to set up the lines from the pump to gear box?

I noticed russells makes 6 AN fittings and hose that they market specifically for PS situations...do i have to have that or can I use regular AN hose and fittings?

I'm installing an aftermarket accessory bracket using a 1997-2004 corvette pump to a 1989 Iroc gear box.

I just like the appeal of using AN lines and being able to customize the fit in my garage and not have to "make" an oem line work or trying to source a local shop to make something.

Way easier buying the AN hose and fittings and do it myself.

Regular AN hose is only good to around 1000psi, and your power steering system works around 2000-2500psi. You'll want something other than standard rubber AN hose. Most reference this as PTFE line. it's a teflon lined rubber line with the braided covering. Most of these will hold in excess of 1500-2500 psi.
Most of the major hose manufacturers have both styles (rubber and teflon) and they have specific PTFE hose ends that can get you to an AN fitting end.
You're looking for something like this:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220988/overview/

and this style of fitting:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-250687b/overview/

Notice the heavy bowl flare on the hose side.
There is also a specific assembly for this hose style, similar to a compression fitting with a ferrule.

The return line obviously can be a much lower capacity hose.
Also, be aware that with that steering box and late model power steering pump, you'll be working with almost exclusively with metric o-ring fittings on the pump and the box.

Thanks,

I ordered one of those AFCO 37130 PS pump adapter fittings, metric o-ring and 14mm and 16mm to -6an fittings earlier.

Been looking at the lines and fittings to go with it. I'll def get the teflon lined and fittings like the links you posted.

Do you think a -6an hose will fit on the return line on the pump? I'd like to use the same teflon steel line for both the return and pressure so they match. I can throw a clamp on the return line.

I don't know how well the ptfe line works with a hose clamp. The inner layer of the ptfe hose does not flex and stretch like rubber, so getting it to slide over a hose barb and seal will be a struggle, I imagine. You could certainly get another steel braid line (non-ptfe) with matching fittings and clamp it for the return line.
Personally, I'm doing everything I can to eliminate a clamped hose in my whole steering system.
